My daughter just found out she's pregnant and we need to know which hospital has the best Labor & Delivery Dept. She lives closest to ECM but, we don't know anybody who has used that Hospital. Does anyone have or know someone who had experience giving birth there?

I've recently obtained a new, more positive outlook on life. Things are not always as they seem nor as bad as we think they are. Thank you Lord for opening my eyes!

One grandaughter born at ECM. Everything seemed great .

I was born at ECM , so I may be a bit partial.

Not that it has anyting to do with your situation, but my personal experiences with Keller have not been good, while my experiences with ECM have always been very good.

Add to that that Keller is dead set against us getting a first class hospital here in the Shoals, and I would not go to Keller to get a splinter out of my behind.

Is this the pot calling the kettle black. If my memory serves me correctly the hospital your referring to was originally going to be built on "free" land from T.V.A property on the south side of Singing River Bridge in Colbert County. The people that want Helen Keller to stop interfering with their business stepped in and was going to file a suit against the hospital if it was built in Colbert County, but for some reason we're suppose to mind our own business????

As far as the doctors:  We are not really blessed with that many OB/GYN's that are delivering babies, and many have offices on both sides of the river and deliver at both ECM and HKH.

And I don't think any land from TVA would be "free" at any rate. Personally, I think that land on the TVA Res would be a good place, no homes to displace anyone, or anything, but that was blocked, as I remember, by the little people who want to keep this area backward as 5 separate towns, instead of one city. As I remember it  also, Keller was against that idea as well.
"Y'all" at Keller should mind your own damm business, and try to improve your service and keep your place clean, instead of being like Congressional Republicans and trying to obstruct every damm thing anybody tries to do to improve our area.

The only time I have ever tried to use Keller was an ER trip from hell, (which I posted about some time ago), and you people over there sure have a lot to do before you slam anyone else. A LOT !!!

My son and grandson were born at ECM and the best I know both times were as good as we could get anywhere.

Unless your daughter is having some kind of complications, I think you can get the proper treatment at any hospital. It was not all that long ago that babies were being born at home without even having a doctor present many times.

I delivered all three of my children at ECM. The doctors with Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates of Northwest Ala PC at the clinic on Helton Drive are wonderful and use ECM.  Their first office was on the corner Locust Street with only 2 or 3 doctors. The first doctor I used at the location on College street was retiring soon so I saw Dr Carter and Dr Chappell..Dr Carter delivered my first daughter and there were complications but everyone was great and she was a healthy baby. My second child was delivered by Dr Woodford. He was WONDERFUL. By the time I got to the hospital I was sent straight to delivery and she was born 40 min after I arrived.....no stiches and I wore my jeans home!!!...My son was delivered by Dr Chappell and he has been my Doctor since 1990. I think they are all wonderful doctors, they care and are great doctors. I recommend the staff at OBGYN ASSOC. and the doctors there as well as ECM. Congrats and bless you and your child!

Unfortunately none of those doctors are delivering anymore.  The female doctor still there wouldn't be allowed to treat my dog.

you will need a Dr that uses the hospital of your choice. but i would choose the dr first....

i love Dr Mary Robbins. she delivers at ECM. she is friendly and compassionate, very caring little lady. she's warm and funny, and eases every fear and discomfort. your daughter would be blessed using her. her office is in the medical building right beside the hospital. 256-767-0081  believing for a healthy happy baby   <3

Thank you thehippiegirl, we will contact Dr. Robbins. Dr. Jones is not very encouraging at all and her nurse told me daughter yesterday, "Repeat after me, it is not a baby it is an ovum" We believe life begins at conception and want the Doctor to respect our belief, whether she agrees with it or not. This Dr. and staff do not seem to want to respect our beliefs.
