Yeah, I have the same problem. I did call, several times, and they told me it was because I "live at the very last circuit of the grid," and this was why my power blinked on and off daily. I am no electrician by any stretch, nor am I a vet...but I know electrified animal poop when I smell it. My water meter containment hole has been full of water (that is 2.5 ft of standing water in a concrete containment hole) for 2 months now. I have called and told them they have a severe leak somewhere (luckily not mine....but they will prolly make it mine at some point) several times and have even watched their meter reader open it up and take a reading without even flinching, even though the meter is under 1.5ft of water.

You are right, that answer you got is total BULL... it is their maintenence that causes that, NOT that you live at the end of a grid, "Electricity" does not know where the end of the grid is, but maintenence workers do.

Don't take that answer, go higher, keep on going higher until you have something done... afterall, YOU are the one paying for this, so why should you do without during your blinking periods... tell them you want a rebate, refund, and discount since you are "on the end of their grid"... sheesh, guess they think we are ALL dummies!
Their answers are totally absurb. Squirrels and woodpeckers and so forth. VCRs, TVs, Clocks, Freezers and Refridgerators and AC units take a beating with electrical interuptions. It is just "tough noggies" as far as they are concerned. They ask you to call and we did for a year. Still happens and no explaination. Where can you go to take the issue farther?

Problem with demanding a refund for blinking periods is that each period only lasts 1-2 seconds.....just long enough to reset all of the digital clocks in the house...stereo, microwave etc (except for alarm clock w/battery backup). I have gone 'head-to-head' with SU several times before (including the time my meter died and they charged me $500 extra for the "gradual declination of the device over a 6 month period" and then told me I was welcomed to not pay, but they would not "guarantee that my service would not be turned off.") Apparently, SU is so adept at screwing people, they know exactly how much they can get away with. Each time I have looked at legal action, it turns out that it would cost me nearly twice as much to fight them than it would to just pay 'em. Their day is coming.
