I just passed a house in Sheffield where there was an apparent medical emergency. It looked like a carvival with all the emergency lights. There was a large firetruck, a small firetruck, and ambulance, and not one, or possibly two, but four police cars on the scene. In our economy, and with Sheffield always crying poverty, it just seems a little (lot) wasteful to me! Unless there was an awful lot of people there who needed attention. Counting one person per vehicle, and there never is, that was at least seven(more like fourteen) people to take care of one call.

From an LEO perspective, sometimes, depending upon the 911 address dispatched and other info civilians may not be privy to, LEOs are requested to clear the scene prior to EMS actually entering the scene.

Could it possibly have been a shooting, stabbing, etc, wherein the EMS crews MAY have walked into a very dangerous situation, otherwise?
Thanks everyone but ccrider. I understand a little better now. Cc, there are ways to communicate without being rude and offensive. I am sorry that my observation irratated you. I am also sorry that you don't have words to express yourself without calling names and showing your upbringing. Ignorance shows in more ways than one. If you noticed, in my subject line, I was asking if this was overkill. Not knowing, it seemed wasteful to me. Now, I know. And, you still do not. Thanks again to the others of you who were helpful.
Rude and offensive is where you have lost friends to unnecessary evils because people believe that it is OVERKILL to have too many people on the scene. What if it was your family member that was the patient or the paramedics, firefighters, or police officers that get killed because it was OVERKILL for too many people to be on the scene. And sorrow if it was offensive, but true ignorance should be corrected.
