Mine was my grandmother's chocolate pie. Sadly, the recipe was in her head (she died last August) and I've never been able to duplicate it.... Frowner

I agree. No one could make chocolate gravy & biscuits like my Mom. You've made me want some...on my way to the kitchen now.
I'm sorry for the loss of your Grandma.
A couple of my favorites have already been mentioned. I am happy to have my very old cast iron cookware, some from my mother and some from my great grandmother. Even though I have very nice stainless steel "everything", you can't beat fried chicken, pot roast and cornbread cooked in old well seasoned cast iron. Wink
Old Fashion 1800 hand made "lard biscuits" that my grandmother made on her wood fired stove. They would be crisp and crunchy on the outside but soft like a bellowing cloud on the inside. We would cut them open and lay slices of real butter, close themtogether and allowed the butter to melt and blend in.
We would then pour hot sorgum molasses over the biscuit and cut it up with a fork. A large bite and a sup of cook strong black coffee.

Now! that is living...
Good grief, my mouth is watering! HAHA

My grandmother made what looked like fried pies, but they were made in the oven...everything was from scratch, down to leaving the fruit she picked outside to dry. They were buttery and sweet, crust was perfect. My favorite was apricot, but apple was also delicious.

Now I miss my Grandma...I feel certain that will be my first meal in Heaven. Smiler
"Butter Rolls". Made by rolling up several large pieces of dough. Placed in a large cast iron skillet. Smothered with churned butter. Then smothered with sugar. Then drowned with actual, 100% milk...straight from the cows teet.
Baked in the oven.
Then, about 4 hours after eating...a "good" trip to the "outhouse".
My "Great Aunt Luties" recipe.
