JT needs to take a course in reading comprehension. The TD editorial commented in the financial education of people in the state, not the state government.  JT's lack of comprehension and the number of persons unfamiliar with how to arrange their finances point towards failings in public education and personal responsibility.

As to Alabama's fiscal condition:

Alabama ranks 15th.  Democrat dominated states, NY state ranks 42nd and California ranks 44th.

Unfortunately, all that means is that Alabama is in the top third of the tallest midgets in the room. State finances are one of many ticking time bombs leftover for the next administration to worry about.

If, Trump's reforms take hold as similar in the past, many states and cities will be bailed out by the increase in tax revenue.  Unfortunately, Democrat controlled states like California, Illinois and NY state will just spend it and run up their bill.
