Does anyone have any opinions on FGCC? I do and mine are not good. I joined early last spring and looked forward to the social aspect. The calendar on the website has not been updated since Feb 2006 and I guess that they dont send monthly newsletters as I have not received any. I ask about a newsletter in the office and was blown off. We would like to use the restaurant but hate to drive out there and have it closed. Seems like a pretty loose ship to me. I dont see myself being a 2 year member at this rate.

Thought it would be an addition to my current social calendar and give me time away from the Elephant Balls Bar and Moose Lodge. Tennis, hiking, football, are all for Sissys, Golf, Guns, Sour Mash, Cubans and Harleys not for sissys.

What would you give for some TOP SHELF WHITE LIGHTNING? I know where some extra smooth stuff is but it is expensive.

The above reply proves the old saying "Better to be thought an idiot, rather than opening one's mouth and proving it."
Heads Up may think of golf as a sissy's game, but either he/she hasn't tried to play or is too inept to play well enough to admit it. As one great sage said "Golf, a good walk spoiled"
Would someone please call Tiger Woods and tell him to quit that sissy game, he'll never make any money doing it.
Good comments Pitbo$$ and Brentenman! Well, from a woman's perspective I think golf is great and I'll have words with anyone who wants to call me a sissy because I play the game or because I'm a woman! I get off on blasting at lovely silhouette targets too, and I was the only student, male or female, in my ROTC marksmanship class at UNA to get back to back bullseyes in one day from both prone and kneeling positions. That was with a .22 but these days I prefer my .45 pistol. I think that puts me squarely in the "non-sissy" club! Unlike you Brentenman, I don't care to shoot Bambie because I think they are beautiful creatures, I don't care for the taste of the meat and don't really want horns on my wall.

I hear there is some in the neighborhood but I would never hear about anything like thatSmiler

The stuff I'm aware of comes from Madison county. I don't socialize with any neighbors out here. To many Church of Christ members for me.

I took 2 semesters of golf at UNA. I just didn't like it. It's was a fun crip course. When I lived in Memphis I got to know John Daily. He was a party guy at that time. I tried to play again but lost intrest in it. John could go out on the course while knockin out some serious cocktails and still kick azz! He is my favorite pro golfer.

I do enjoy watching Kaddy Shack.

Guy's do yall ware those silly little hats and those nikker bockers? ( SP) LOL

No knickers, lucky to have shirts with a collar. I understand the COC, I am a heathen. You should stop in for happy hour some weekend.
There's an old joke I love. I'm sure you've heard it.

The end of all things has come and everyone is up in heaven at a big celebration bash. Finally someone looks up and notices a group of people on a far hilltop, seperate from everyone else and asks St. Peter, "Sir, who are those people over there on that hill?" St. Peter responds, "Shhhh, those are the CoC. They think they're the only ones here."
Don't know if the "dry mentality" folks in the Shoals would go for it, but out here the biggest money makers are restaurants with their own micro-breweries. Got the big tanks right there in the restaurant for people to see the brewing process. They make money hand over fist without even trying. As much as the Shoals loves new restaurants, you'd think it would go over really great...or are there any there already? Haven't been back in a couple of years now.
As "luck" would have it, the Alabama legislature (in their infinite wisdom) nipped that flower in the bud.

That is, when microbreweries were blossoming throughout the United States in smaller markets, and adding tremendously to the economies of the area, not only with taxes but with increases in tourism!

So, the legislature forbid the creation of microbreweries in areas & businesses unless they had historically been located there at least 100 years ago.

There was a microbrewery that located in Huntsville, but they haven't quite hit their stride as a high quality brewer & seller.

I don't see their products in area grocery stores.
There are a few micro breweries in Nashville, I love them. In the fall, Bosco's has a German Flaming Stone Ale that is awesome. I think financially a micro brew restaurant would do well, but there is still no draught beer allowed. Plus, I'm sure the city council would find reasons not to give a liquor license to a restaurant that brewed on site. The area just recently started selling liquor by the drink on Sundays, so maybe in 20 years Florence will get it's first micro brew.

This one is way older than me...Get new stuff or go back to your California Daze.
I know you can't be talking about me...I'm in fine fettle this evening. I don't care for people who can't have a good laugh and I just don't like people assuming that because I live in SoCal, I must indulge in the "lifestyle" everyone seems to associate with LA. I live in a small suburb of LA that reminds me of the Shoals in many respects and the strongest thing I can be accused of being on is a double shot cafe latte from Starbuck's.
