Florence wants to raise the lodging tax by 5%?  Florence wants to raise the price of admission to various city owned attractions by 200% or so.  It sure does sound like there is some good, conservative republicans in charge.

So, how many nights a year do you spend in Florence hotels?  And, do you use your real name?

LOL!  Well, he can't use Tennessee hotels.

We last lived in a 400 home swim-tennis community outside Atlanta with a homeowners association.  We had 4 tennis courts that had to be resurfaced every 5 years or so.  Although very few residents played tennis, upkeep on those tennis courts just about bankrupted the HMO the year when maintenance was required.

It's not the cost of the 19 court tennis complex that's the problem.  Resurfacing that many courts every few years will just about bankrupt the city parks budget.   This city simply doesn't need such a facility for so few tennis players in the area.

I wonder if anyone has any idea how much it's going to cost to maintain the project?  Lodging taxes are high enough already, and any such projects really need to be funded and maintained internally.  If we cannot afford it, we cannot afford it.

When the softball fields were first proposed, the argument that nobody in the area played softball was used by the naysayers.   They've had so much use, they are adding more fields.

How do you know there are no tennis players in the area?  With the proper facilities there might just be new and old players coming out of the woodwork.

Homeowners associations are notorious for their stupidity, poor decisions, and failed financial management.

I would expect that there would be fees associated with court usage that would pay for maintenance.
