The "Jobless Recovery" has claimed another victim. Foot Locker announced today that they could no longer sustain in this economy and will be closing their stores.
They are closing 117 by the end of the month. Still opening 37, and remodeling/relocating 160. This is actually being looked at as a positive because they are focusing more on female shoppers and consolidating management.
Natural fallout. There are WAY too many shoe stores infesting the malls of this land. It is to be expected that some chains will go bust now and then. There are a lot of great shoe bargains available online.
they haven't released a list. They still have 1200 stores, and Lady Foot Locker, and Champs, and Footaction (which is the store in the mall, not Foot Locker) Not a big deal.

Can you suggest some of those websites or are you speaking only of Foot Locker's website?
Here is a great online source for shoes, boots, and lots of other stuff. In the last 2-3 years, they have greatly expanded their lines of shoes and boots. They have deeply discounted brand name stuff and a great return policy also. Check it out:
This doesnt surprise me, considering many other retails have had to shut down. Who can afford a lot of these top-name brands anymore? Out here its been May Co, Circuit City and even Baskin-Robbins. Not sure if this is a nationwide shut-down or just in this town but those are only the businesses that Im aware of, that have folded under.
Circuit City shouldn't count as they deserved it. I worked there a decade ago right when they dropped appliances which was the first hint of their destruction. They completely focused on on upping Best Buy and let everything else slide even firing the knowledgeable salespeople to higher cheaper labor. If the economy didn't tank they still wasn't long for this world.
Remember Circuit City for Carmax only, and at least they spun that off before they corrupted that. Otherwise they deserved their fate.
