Probably, ... Wink Bet the TD gets their news from FOX?? hehe
If I aremember right, RSA has interest in one of the TV stations in Huntsville and the TD.
A friend (who will go un-named for obvious reasons) told me that management for TD and local radio stations prohibited any negative comment from these outlets for the RSA plan to land grab TVA . I assume that went for the rest of the total RSA package for the Shoals.
David Bronner is very powerful- he wants your land for free and he has the media in his pocket.

Is his middle name BUSH? Wink
You're right, excelman. At least at some point (I'm not sure if it is still the case) RSA had a major interest in WAFF 48 in Huntsville.

But at the same time, because the NYT owns the TD and until recently owned WHNT-19, as well, I doubt WAFF and the TD would conspire on anything, since they were in direct competition.

Also, if the TD prohibited negative comments about the RSA, wouldn't that apply to letters to the editor, as well? There have been plenty of those, as well as comments in stories critical of RSA. Just my two cents on the matter.

I think overall, the RSA project has been beneficial to the area, at least with the hotel and the golf course. No matter what people say, it is bringing people to the area, which isn't a bad thing. It's providing sales and lodging tax revenues and showcasing the area.

On the other hand, I don't think a Bass Pro Shops is the right answer for the attraction. I'm not even sure there is a "perfect" answer for the attraction. Most of the ideas getting thrown either A) don't seem to appeal to a wide enough range of people or B) aren't feasible for this area because there aren't enough people to staff it (large amusement park) or support it financially year round (minor league baseball).

I think the best bet would be to accentuate what is already in the park. Maybe putting in a top of the line youth baseball and softball stadium complex to host major tournaments and add a good amphitheater near the river to attract some concerts.
Well ya'll have all read my comspiracy theory before, just a refresher course, RSA owns Raycom media the parent company of WAFF, I don't know when NYT sold WHNT and was corrected in a post recently that NYT publishes Golf Digest Magazine, but I don't know WHEN they sold the publication, it WAS owned and published by NYT newspaper group (which is actually a seperate entity of the New York Times but stock is sold as one company) when Bronner and RSA were trying to steal and build the Robert Trent Jones Golf course at TVA and the 2 cent gas tax was passed without a vote so the citizens of the Shoals will be paying for this for the next 20 years. Maybe that makes the mud a little clearer THE DOG

I paersonally don't have any problem with any business that wants to locate here. I have a serious problem, however, when we (the local citizens via our leaders) have overly large incentives to get them to come.

As for as Veterens Park, I think it should be further developed as a public park- not used for commercial development. That is exactally what TVA wants.
I have no quams about building ball parks, water parks , etc, but my personal preference would be to upgrade the park to be used as it is now. Why not a good marina, and a fishing pier. Why is it necessary to have something just to make money. At some point in time, there will not be many places the general public can go to just chill out by the river. During my lifetime, I have seen Pickwick Lake have real estate development to the point that in some cases public beaches have been taken over by nearby rich property owners. It is still a big lake, but the public access areas are getting less and less.
