A longtime Republican congressman says that Russia’s leak of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign during the U.S. presidential election was a public service.

“If Russia succeeded in giving the American people information that was accurate,” Arizona Rep. Trent Franks said Thursday afternoon on MSNBC, “then they merely did what the media should have done.”

Franks’ comments came shortly before the Obama administration announced sanctions against Moscow for interfering with the U.S. election.

“I’m all for doing what’s necessary to protect the election here,” Franks said. “But there’s no suggestion that Russia hacked into our voting systems or anything like that.”

In October, U.S. intelligence agencies concluded that Russian hacking of American “political organizations” like the Democratic National Committee was an attempt to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system. In a closed-door briefing on Capitol Hill earlier this month, the Central Intelligence Agency concluded that it was “quite clear” that electing Donald Trump was Russia’s goal.

Trump dismissed the assessment, calling it a “card” being played by the Democrats to undercut his stunning election victory.

“Can you imagine if the election results were the opposite and WE tried to play the Russia/CIA card,” Trump tweeted on Dec. 12. “It would be called conspiracy theory!”

I also should remind everyone that the only reason Barry Soetoro is peeved is because his political clone lost and he needs something else to blame other than his policies. I have no doubt that the easy to hack Podesta and DNC email systems were indeed hacked (probably by multiple countries), but Wikileaks founder Julian Assange asserts that his source was a leaker within the Clinton campaign and not Russia. Russian hacks and insider leaks are not mutually exclusive.

Exactly!

I wish Ol'bama had more concern for the hacking by all foreign countries of the personal information of the masses instead of a single politician. The hack of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) was far more serious; but hey, I got free credit monitoring out of the deal.

Active military and vets records were hacked as well. I got the same free credit monitoring.  The Chinese are the suspects for that.

zona G man..

Notice that all the talk, coming from the Democrats, calls for investigation and punishing Russia whom they "think" or "suspect" released their confidential emails claiming that they influenced the election vote.  All that is speculation that is totally unproven.

If they are REALLY interested in foreign citizens actually having a direct influence on our election how about an investigation into how many illegals voted in the Presidential election?  How about our sitting President actually encouraging Illegals (non-American citizens, foreigners) to vote by encouraging them and telling them they will not be checked upon if they do go to the polls to vote?  How about investigating how we can prevent non-American, illegal, people from voting in our elections?  or the Dead voting or votes cast by people who are not who they say they are?  Voter ID maybe?

Is that not important?   I think we all know that answer, NOPE because those votes would certainly support the Democrats.
