Silly little bundle of Joy! The climatologists, who actually know what they are talking about, correctly interpret the unususlly warm weather in Canada and the unusually cold weather in much of the U.S. this winter as phenomena of an El Nino in the Pacific Ocean. Owing to warmer ocean temperatures--which accompany global climate change--these anomalies are more dramatic than they might otherwise be. It is understandable that in your rankly biased state, you would conveniently overlook one of the off-setting factors of winter fuel use in British Columbia and other affected parts of Canada, namely that the populace is using considerably less fuel for space heating than they would in a typical winter.
...and this response says absolutely nothing about the millions of gallons of carbon-producing fuel used for the athlets AND live observers traveling to Vancouver...
And there was no need for my response to explicitly address that territory. The clear implication in my reference to "offsetting" was that there was something to offset, and the only thing that could have applied to, in the context of the discussion, is the array of consumptive fuel used associated with the Vancouver Olympics, including, or course, the fuel used in travel.
In the future I will try to spell everything out in such minute detail that even interpretive-challenged folks like you can understand it.
