I just got back from Braly Stadium. They were attempting to break the world record for number of carolers gathered in one place. We had to sing for 20 minutes straight. It was a lot of fun! They said we were close, but I think they just didn't want to let us down after a fun afternoon. They will try again next year if we missed it. It was packed out on one side of stadium, with Shoals P & W Choir on other side. I guess we'll see it in TD if we made it.

Yes, I thought so too. I thought it was funny when we all reverted back to the extra lyrics we learned in elementary school. Like on Rudolph, we said "like a light bulb", "like Pinocchio", etc. I think we should do it again even if we set the record. I really enjoyed it. A friend sings in Shoals Praise & Worship Choir. I'll be interested to hear what it was like from where they were sitting (on the other side of stadium from 7000+ carolers (is that even a word?). I'll ask her tonight at church.

I was fun just to see everyone getting together and singing in one chorus. Instead of Christmas carols we should have had worship service. I'm guilty I missed worship because of a painful situation, but I attend the record maker, I made up for my service misser by attend the evening service. I hope we made it because I want to go back to west Va.

This was an attempt to break a world record...the most people gathered in one place simultaneously singing Christmas caroles for 20 consecutive minutes. How would have that purpose have been realized if the organizers decided to have a "worship service" instead? Which, it nearly turned into that anyway...luckily, the main purpose was not entirely lost. Again, this was an attempt to break an existing world record...not a religious revival gathering....

Next year, if 8,000 people want to have a public worship service, FANTASTIC...more power to you..I will prolly be there (the city would be delighted to provide you with the proper forms for your gathering.....btw, this was not organized as a religious event.) .....Sing Christmas caroles, praise whoever you want, be happy and joyful....But don't hijack a public gathering organized to attempt a world record feat to meet your ends.

More to the point....BRAVO to the little guy that decided he wanted this to happen! Unfortunately, we didn't quite make it.....

moms3babes2000, does this mean you are staying here? I am sorry that your life and plans were hinged on the outcome of this gathering....maybe we SHOULD have prayed more?
