Gun-Toting Texas Grandma Turns Table On Robber Holding Her At Knifepoint

Fort Worth gun-toting grandma, Jewell Turner, gave her would-be robber more than he bargained for when she whipped a gun from her purse and threatened to blow his head off.

The 74-year-old was sitting in her minivan outside her doctor’s office on Monday when a young man tapped on her window asking for directions. She told NBC DFW she never expected what would happen after she rolled down her window to offer help.

“He stood there and we talked for a while, [him] just asking for directions and me giving them to him. Never thought that when I turned my head that that young man would stick a knife to my throat.”

Turner’s instincts took over when she heard the words, “I don’t want to hurt you, but I want your money. And I will hurt you if I have to.” Her initial thought was to grab her late husband’s pocket knife that she always keeps with her. However, she recalled that something had prompted her to bring along additional protection that day. Much to her attacker’s surprise, she was packing a pistol and wasn’t afraid to use it.

“I seen the gun laying there. And I figured that would work better than the knife. I just reached down, got the gun and turned around and pointed it to his face. And I told him, I said, ‘You back off, or I’ll blow your head off.’ And his eyes got big and he just backed up and he took off walking down the street like nothing happened.”

It's nice that she gave him the opportunity to refine his armed robbery skills.
