A sweet young man who lived next door to my Grandmother in New Orleans was cute, but the biggest nerd-Trekkie I ever met. He was in love with me when we were teenagers. I was appalled and utterly embarrassed by his attention. Of course I was always nice to him and did walk down to the local Pizza place with him from time to time (always at odd times of day so as not to be seen by the boys I REALLY wanted to ask me out!). We lost touch with one another over the years. My Grandmother, on one of our last visits, handed me a Times-Picayune article about the young man. He had gone to MIT and then to work with Chubb Insurance in London to put in their worldwide computer system in the late 80s. He had become a multi-millionaire by the time he was 30. My grandmother watched as I read and when I looked up she had that look on her face ( most of you know the one ). She dryly said, " He was always SO fond of you. Why was it that you never cared for him? Something to do with what he watched on T.V., or some movie thing as I remember".
