From the well of the Senate, where one may not be sued or prosecuted, for statements made, Harry Reid made claims, proven false, that Mitt Romney did not pay income taxes for about 12 years.  Now, he is bragging about his lies, and that he would do so to ensure a Democrat victory.  Voters should remember this next electio.

"Each day brings a new reason to be happy about Harry Reid’s impending retirement.

The newest one is his outright admission that he used his position as senate leader to dishonestly smear Mitt Romney in the run-up to the 2012 election.

Even the reliably liberal Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post is disgusted:

Harry Reid’s appalling defense of his attack on Mitt Romney’s tax record

One of the more outlandish moments of the 2012 campaign came when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid went to the floor of the world’s greatest deliberative body and accused GOP nominee Mitt Romney of not paying any taxes at all for the past 10 years. Reid’s evidence? Someone had told him. (That “someone” is alleged to be Jon Huntsman, father of the former Utah governor. Huntsman denies involvement.)…

And yet, the clip above shows Reid, in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, not only refusing to apologize for the claim but defending it — in a very weird way.

“Romney didn’t win, did he?” Reid said in response to Bash’s question of whether he regretted what he had said about Romney.

Think about that logic for a minute. What Reid is saying is that it’s entirely immaterial whether what he said about Romney and his taxes was true. All that mattered was that Romney didn’t win."

Vote'em all out! Why? What do you get when you vote'em all out? Look at he lying mess in office now. Wasn't it hope and change the dems claimed?  But for who? Before the dems got their claws in we had hope. Now we have hope obama and the dems don't have time to completely ruin the country, and hope we have a little change left in our pockets after the dems go through the country like locusts through a wheat field, and hope we can get the dems out of office.

Reid held the third most powerful office in the land.

Dire, I thought that was Boehner.

Best, the last time I counted, the republicans had a majority in the house and senate. In Alabama, the republicans had a super majority. Who is ruining the country?

The Speaker of the House is the second most powerful position,  He is second in line for presidential succession,  And, head of the body that initiates appropriations and new revenue bills.

The Senate Majority leader controls all bills that come to that body of congress, including whether the bills ever are voted on or if amendments may be added.  He is not in the line of presidential succession,

Let it be known that Harry Reid never met a racial stereotype that he didn’t like.

The geriatric Democrat spoke to the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce yesterday and made two uncouth remarks in regards to his audience’s ethnicity in a speech recorded by America Rising and reported on by Time.

While the Chamber of Commerce laughed politely at the gray-haired senator, they returned the courtesy by instead endorsing Republican Mark Hutchison for lieutenant governor rather than Reid’s Democratic choice, Lucy Flores, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Hutchison is the choice of Nevada’s Gov. Brian Sandoval (R.), who is a possible 2016 senate challenger to Reid’s seat. Sandoval is leading Reid by 10 points in a Harper Polling survey.

The along in years senate majority leader has a sordid history of making obnoxious and offensive generalizations toward minorities, most famous of all calling President Obama electable because he is “light skinned” and that he speaks “with no negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.”

The only black lawmaker in the U.S. Senate blasted Senate majority leader Harry Reid on Friday for comments suggesting Republican opposition to President Barack Obama is the result of racism.

South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, a Republican, called on the Nevada Democrat to apologize after saying during a radio interview on Friday that he hopes Republican opposition to Obama is “based on substance and not the fact that he’s African-American.”

“I am sincerely disappointed by continued attempts to divide the American people by playing to the lowest common denominator,” Scott said.

“Instead of engaging in serious debate about the failed policies of this administration – from the ever-increasing burdens created by the national health care reform plan to the tax and spend approach to economic recovery, along with countless others – Democrats are once again trying to hide behind a smokescreen,” the Republican said.

Added Scott: “Our country deserves more from those in Washington. I hope Senator Reid will realize the offensive nature of his remarks and apologize to those who disagree with the President’s policies because of one thing – they are hurting hardworking American families.”

Accurate, as to what?

The VP has a potential as a powerful person,  However, as VP, his power is extremely limited.  Per the constitution, the VP presides as the President of the Senate.  This is pretty much a ceremonial position.  The VP has few duties when the Senate is in session.  In case of a tie in the Senate, the VP breaks the tie.  Otherwise, he's the spare tire in case of the death or incapacity of the President.

Reviewing Reid' s even more recent statements shows he is quite satisfied with himself,  Typical of the left, its called situational ethics -- if it helped our side win, it wasn't a lie.  In the extreme, the Bolsheviki used this to justify massacring white Russian forces promised safe escort out of Russia,  Not only the soldiers, but their wives and children.

Jt, what's wrong with you? No offense, but seriously, what's your age bracket?

------------------

Be more specific. I'll try to answer honestly.

More specific about what?

Best, you asked, Jt, whats wrong with you? No offense, but seriously, what's your age bracket?

I agreed to answer honestly.

You came back with "more specific about what?"

I tried to be civil and agreed to give you an honest answer, you replied with your normal dumb azz answer. I will still give you a honest answer if you will be specific.

I think I listed the power rankings in America. Do you honestly not know "accurate as to what"

No, we are not the same person.  You listed the four most powerful positions at the federal level. However, not in order of the authority and power they wield.

But second in line for presidential succession is the VP.  That's  why Biden is Obama's insurance.  I'm kidding Secret Service.  Party on.

Joking aside, the VP is the first in line for succession. Then, the Speaker, then the President Pro Tempore of the Senate.  After that, the heads of the cabinet departments by date their departments were created.

Biden is probably a bigger deterrent than the secret service. The SS rep has seemed to go downhill recently.

Dang.  I can't even tell a joke right.

Thanks for the correction.

A fish rots from the head down

Meaning

When an organization or state fails, it is the leadership that is the root cause

Origin

Fish rot from the head downThis proverb is of ancient origin but precisely which of the ancients coined it is probably beyond our ken at this distant remove.

Many countries lay claim to it. I've seen sources that place it in China, Russia, Poland, England, Greece and so on..., but usually with no evidence to substantiate those claims. A correspondent of mine has asserted that it was written in a Greek text by Erasmus, who died in 1546. That may be the case, but I've not been able to substantiate that claim.

All of the early examples of the phrase in print in English prefer the 'a fish stinks from the head down' variant to 'a fish rots from the head down', which is more popular nowadays. Those early examples all ignore the nations mentioned above and credit the term to the Turks. Sir James Porter's Observations on the religion, law, government, and manners of the Turks, 1768, includes this:

The Turks have a homely proverb applied on such occasions: they say "the fish stinks first at the head", meaning, that if the servant is disorderly, it is because the master is so.

The early date of this citation and the fact Porter was in a position to be authoritative on the Turkish custom, being as he was British ambassador to the Sublime Porte of the Ottoman Empire for 15 years in the second half of the 18th century, gives Turkey a strong claim to be the birthplace of this proverb.

Of course, the proverb isn't a lesson in piscine biology. The phrase appears to have been used in Turkey in a metaphorical rather than literal sense from the outset.
