Reid stated that Director Comey broke the law -- Hatch Act.  Note to Harry, there is no legal penalty for civil servants violating the Hatch Act. There are administrative penalties -- suspended for weeks without pay, or after a long process -- firing. As the FBI Director is appointed for 10 years, only the President may dismiss him.

Reid himself, showed what he really was, when he deliberately lied, from his position over the Senate, claiming, for political reasons, that he had a friend that said Romeny didn't pay his taxes.

We know now that Reid deliberately lied, there as no friend, he had no such word but it was all politically motivated and Reid's only comments afterwards was an unapologetic "Romney Lost didn't he".  Indicting he was proud to have possibly played a part in Romney's defeat.  Reid is one of those politicians who totally smells up the reputation for all other honest ones, wherever they may be.  He is the lowest of the low, worst of the worst.

And note that the Hatch act has to do with prohibition of Government employees from actively participating in campaigns and elections,

The Hatch Act of 1939, officially An Act to Prevent Pernicious Political Activities, is a United States federal law whose main provision prohibits employees in the executive branch of the federal government, except the president, vice-president, and certain designated high-level officials of that branch, from engaging ...

Trump doesn't work for the executive branch so he couldn't violate it however Comey works for the FBI which is a part of the Justice department which is a part of the executive branch and he could actually violate it but what he did wasn't a violation but just doing his job at notifying Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, that the email investigation was back on full force due to the additional evidence which they felt could or would influence the case and warrant another look at it.

Had Comey's decision though been a political one seeking to influence the election then he could be prosecuted under the Hatch act but proof would be needed for his own intent.  Something very difficult to prove especially after he pretty much said what he did about Hillary earlier in the year.  Funny how he's the best there is when he's sympathetic or favorable to "Team Clinton" but he's satan or the worst when he's doing his job, again, and it happens to go against "Team Clinton" and be negative toward her.
