I seem to remember he didn't even know when a project was tabled and also lied about voting no for his big raise. Sorry. The Shoals can do better.

The remaining stretch of highway 43 in Greenhill is not even on the schedule anytime in the future.

It was in the paper a month or so ago?? that the rest of 43 up to the TN line would start in the summer, I think.  They've been marking up the pavement just north of the newly paved area, and putting stakes in yards.  I'm hoping it will be done by the time our youngest gets her driver's license.  She's 9 years old.

I have often wondered just why building a highway in Alabama is such a long drawn out process.
I moved here from Memphis in 1987, and hwy 72 thru Mississippi was all 2 lane except for a few miles thru Corinth. At the same time , Hwy 157 to Cullman, was only 4 laned half way to Molton and they were working on the other half.
Mississippi completed 4 lanes of 72 thru the entire state while Alabama was still screwing around on that 15 mile stretch of 157.
At the same time, Ms has 4laned  Hwy 45 the entire length of the state all the way to the Alabama state line, where Al has not even considered that stretch of 4 lane to Mobile. If 45 ever gets finished in Alabama, that will be the shortest and quickest route to the Gulf Coast from here, since we are not likely in our lifetime to see 43 4laned thru Tuscaloosa on the the Coast.

That is the way I go now. Considering the traffic jam that you can count on in B'Ham it is quicker, period. I had friends to leave out at the same time as I did going down. They went 65 and sat in traffic in B'Ham. By the time they got to Montgomery I was eating oysters............

Last trip down I asked myself time and time again how can Mississippi get it right and we can't...............I know the answer of course...........$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$   and I don't mean that Mississippi is spending more............

How do you get on 45, ? , 72 to Corinth, 72 to the Trace, then down to Tupelo, or 43 down to I22 or whatever they are calling 78, and then over to 45 , or some other way I haven't thought of yet?

Usually I go to Northport, hit the toll road to the interstate and then pick up 45. But coming home last time I followed 45  North to just this side of Columbus and then came "cross country" to Sulligent and then up 13? on in

I will look at the maps tomorrow and pm you with better details lol

in 1967 I was going with a girl who started school at Alabama, and when she registered , I took her down there. Went that way again about 10 years ago, and the highway has not made any appreciable change since 67, except from here to Russelville. The same ole' 2-lane, get behind a pickup going 30MPH and can't pass road it always was.
When I use45 to the Coast, I take the Trace to Tupelo, and pick up 45 there. Tupelo, being a progressive place, you can go N/S on 45 without any stoplights, or E/W on 78 , again no stoplights. Can you imagine going thru the Shoals without any stoplights ?

Lol, I would think that I had died and was in heaven. I think our welcome sign should be appended to say "welcome to red light hell"...............

I make the trip to T-town on game days so I am used to dealing with the hassles. Generally, I don't run into any snags except for that stretch from Haleyville to Natural Bridge.....
