Sorry if you have done this before but I am curious about how people chose their screen names on here.

I picked peede coober because about 35 years ago there was a picture in the TD of some people canoeing on Cypress creek with their dog and that was the dogs name, at least in my memory. I always thought that was such a cool name. Recently I discovered that there is a place in Australia named Coober Pedy. So I don't know if that was the dogs name and I just didn't remember correctly or if they changed it to peede coober.

Some of ya'll's name's are cool.

Well I have a simple name, but I have actually been using it for everything since the mid '90s. I grew up in the '80s watching cartoons, and the most popular show was G.I. Joe. "Viper" is what they always called the bad guys, so for some reason, it always stuck in my head! So when we got our first computer in 1995, it asked for a username, and "Viper" popped in my head!! Now here I am!

I can't even remember now what the headline I had just read in the paper was, but when I saw that headline, I thought, "Oh NO!" A few minutes later I joined this forum, and just to prevent confusion when other people used that phrase in a post, I shortened it to O No! so we would all  they weren't addressing me.

Back in my wandering days in the late 80s I was driving west on I-90 from Albany, NY to Buffalo. The westbound Thruway bridge at Schoharie Creek had collapsed and traffic was being detoured the long way around it through Duanesburg and Sloansville back out onto the Thruway further west.

I was in a white van with smoked porthole windows that looked like spots and a 102" steel whip CB antenna on the back of it which would wave back and forth as I changed lanes. One of the truckers who called himself "Old Road Dog" on the radio kept referring to me and my lil' white Chevy as "Lil' Road Puppy" on account of the van looked like a dog wagging it's tail going down the road.

I got used to being called "Road Puppy" during the two and a half hour detour. The name stuck and I've carried it as my CB call ever since.

I IZ IN YR HWY

I used to post here as Excelman, but decided to try a name that would indicate a calmer person I was trying to become. I was walking on the beach after a storm and there was a lot of seaweed washed up. The thought came to mind that nothing could be less intimidating than seaweed, and it got to lay on the beach all day (although it couldn't enjoy a cold beer).

Thought I'd try that name on and see how it fit.

Unfortunately ,I still remained combative , maybe because I was raised on a battlefield.

I have considered going back to Excelman, but just haven't bothered.

I always thought you intentionally mispelled your name because of all the marijuana you "see".

No, probably not enough.
Something happened when I first tried to change the name to Seaweed, and it wouldn't let me use that name at that time, so I had to change the spelling and it took. So long ago, I really don't remember what it was, but it had something to do with my password as I recall./

Welllllllllll,  for the record.......mine was thrust on me by the "notorious" LMM.

Apparently some are of the opinion that my posting style requires some chastising here and there...................They are wrong of course, considering that I am innocent of nature, pure of heart.........and stuff.

When they were joking around with someone that would say "I'm just jankin on ya." I thought it was a funny expression so I used it as my screen name.

I'm sure they didn't come up with it themselves, but I have no idea where it originated.

Kind of like the phrase "yanking your chain", huh? Cute.

Sassy, yours is probably my favorite. I've used it in situations when I knew I shouldn't say that with my *outside* voice.
