Understood ok...after seeing this posted it looked to me as if I was correcting your use of "understand" so to clarify...I understand the point you are making. lol
GO: I was in the military...now retired. I do have a "machine gun" along with some hand guns. I keep them as a personal choice as is my right to do. But keeping these weapons do not make me more of a patriot than those who choose not to carry a weapon. Nor does serving in the military make me more of a patriot than someone who did not service. My sister did not service and she's very patriotic.

Now onto why I am a democrat. I really don't feel the need to tell you why, as I am sure it will go over your head, as most everything else does.
I am a democrat because;
-I believe a woman has the right to make decisions about her body and what's growing inside her.
-I believe homosexuals should have the same rights that heterosexuals do.
-I believe in a stronger Centralized Government. (states generally do some dumb things when given too much power: i.e. slavery, segregation)
-I do not believe that my religion, no matter how much I revere it and believe it, should be forced down other's throats, nor should it dictate policy for everyone else.
-I believe you exhaust all diplomacy before blindly marching into war, especially unwinnable wars.
-I believe in respecting our foreign allies and actually listening to their concerns on different subjects

It's not a question of which you put first, you can be pious or devout without trying to put your views on everyone else and have YOUR views dictate policy for everyone.
I have no problem with homosexuality, as I am not a neanderthal and foolish enough to believe that it is not a choice, just as my heterosexuality was not a choice. This is without even considering who would actually choose a life of fear, unacceptance and ridicule, it's just not scientifically sound.
I personally don't like abortion. I mean who really LIKES it? No one. Just as that preposterous website invictus posted earlier that said "pro-abortion," the right wing likes to paint pro choice supporters as people who wake up everyday wanting to kill more babies. But while I do not like it, I definitely believe it should be a person's choice. I do not support late term abortions, nor does the Federal Government.
