Around here with the new Publix and FoodWorld once again changing names. I did work for Walmart for 14 years and my wife worked there for 12 years. I know Walmart like a book and these sceaming folks will do anything for $1. Publix is a sence of fresh air in customer service and folks actually willing and glad to assist you not like Walmart. Belle Foods well that is a freaking joke and always has been. Most of my shopping is done at Hometown since I live 2 blocks from the store. This thing about a new Walmart was ONLY to combat a Publix being built here NOT to help the local economy. Walmart has a long history of also l;aying people off and cutting folks hours so they could not get thier benefits. Just be for real and ask someone who was worked there for the truth.

I feel like anyone with any sense could tell you that Wal-Mart or any company pays it's unskilled labor peanuts. Do you think they should get $75,000 a year?  You work at Wal-Mart while you are going to school or maybe after your kids are out or diapers to supplement you spouses income. It's not a career.   It won't support a family and if you are popping kids out while working at Wal-Mart you are probably wrong.

Could it be that MM and Mama MM's language skills did not meet requirements for higher-paid, higher-skilled jobs?

Well upside, I don't think leaving out an *r* in a word, or the spelling of the other word shows any major lack of language skills. You've done that a few times yourself, we all have. I once had a person with a very high paying job, complaining about another worker in an email, stating that some people thought they had "card blank" to do whatever they wanted. That was just one of his "wise" observations.

Mountainman, you certainly have an ax to grind against Wal*Mart.   Couldn't have been too bad, they paid the bills for you for 14 years.    If my memory serves me correctly, weren't you let go or at the very least reprimanded for selling tobacco to underage kids?   Could this be the source of your indignation?

While I do agree that Publix is a superior store (quality, selection, etc.), Wal*Mart definitely serves its purpose.  It provides an array of affordable goods to a large sector of the populace.    What's wrong with that?   They also provide plenty of people in this area with jobs.   Sure, they aren't the highest paying or most sought after jobs, but they aren't exactly the most skilled jobs either.   And for the most part, the people I know that are or have been store managers, have been with them for an extensive time.   So it seems, from my experience, they promote from within.

You are well within your rights to not shop there or even like their offerings, but your personal vendetta against Wal*Mart is obviously the underlying theme in all of your posts.

Well, Bestworking, perhaps I should have posted a more comprehensive example of MM's literary excellence, such as the following:

"Headlines on todays paper grandson steals granny checks and mis spells her name. HOW STUPID! Does this person not have an education? Ok lets take a look here at the benefits crinimals get. 3 meals a day but not the best but 3 meals and better than some folks get today. Free cable tv, free rent, free gym and all included free internet. Now who pays for all this. Of course the folks working tax payers like you and I. I feel like our youth today have too much time on their hands. Mom and dads and grandparents need to teach kids the value of work. I believe in putting criminals to work fixing the roads and cleaning toilets at parks etc. They will learn a lesson then. Let them pick up garbage the old fashioned way by their hands."
