Different situations. Sandlin is/was Family Court handling divorces and forcing couples to go through his counseling prior to obtaining a divorce. Main thing this did was run up legal fees on all parties but Sandlin didn't care, he wasn't the one paying. Did Sandlin have to undergo forced counseling for his divorce. NO NO NO NO NO He was garnted a divorce very quickly with minimal extra expense like he had forced on others. To top it all off, his afair was with the head of CASA, a group dependent on his office.

I think you have CASA mixed up with CITY -

Being divorced does not disqualify one from serving in public office. If it did, well, most of our public servants would have to step down immediately. The divorce did not cost Judge Sandlin his job, but perhaps the circumstances surrounding it did.

I've been impressed with both candidates for District Judge in Lauderdale County. I wish both of them well in their race. I think the court will be in good hands no matter who wins.
James Hall is definitely in only his 2nd marriage. I have known him personally for the last 30 years and think he will do an awesome job if given the opportunity.

Really what does it matter what cost Judge Sandlin the election at this point? He lost, it's over and why the need to rehash his may have/may have not had issues?
Was also curious what the number of times James Hall (or any candidate)has been married meant to their ability or inabilty to be a judge?
Hello everyone, I am a long time lurker first time to post. There are reasons why I am not going to vote for James Hall, but marital history or status is not one of them. One reason is because I do not believe he is the best candidate. And based on his statement after the primary, it seems like he agrees with me

I am going to vote for the only candidate who has experience as a District Court Judge and that is Judge Medley.

Either Mr. Hall or Mrs. Medley will make a competent judge. If marriage(s) is/are a deal breaker for anyone, Mrs. Medley has been married only once.

If Mr. Hall should be elected, we will also have a new Florence Municipal Judge. I know of one local attorney (female) who is already lobbying for this position--a friend asked if I would contact my councilman with a recommendation for her. I certainly felt that was premature.

Jones Law School was not accredited when Medley attended. Admitted to bar 1996
Hall graduated from Cumberland in 1987.

Soon to be Judge Billy Jackson also graduated from Jones - the reality is both accredited (The Univeristy of Alabama and Cumberland) and non-accredited (Birmingham School of Law, Jones and Miles) have turned out both excellent lawyers and sadly, far more bafoons than anyone should have to tolerate.
