If you catch a terrorist, have a trial, if they are guilty, execute them in the most shameful way.  If you kill a terrorist, or have a suicide bomber, have someone of the opposite sex prepare their remains for burial.  Then give them a Christian or Jewish funeral (whichever is the most shameful) and bury them with a pork chop.

And if that terrorist is a Timothy McVey, i.e. a non-Muslim and a veteran of the U.S. Army, does the same prescription hold?

I think the reason Obama was hesitant to use the word terrorism and Tom Ridge alluded to it this morning, was because it enhances paranoia and people automatically envision some ak-47 wielding middle-easterner.    As even seen in this thread, there was an illogical jump to conclude this was automatically someone of Muslim faith.

I can think of 5 acts of terror in the last 22 years on our soil and three were committed by Americans:    Oklahoma city, Atlanta & the DC Sniper.     I believe the DC Sniper was the only one whom had a Muslim faith, and he may not have, but seems that I remember he did.   But all in all his acts had nothing to do with religion, simply was some sordid attempt to get his wife back.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said she believes the attacks Monday afternoon in Boston constitute a terrorist attack.

While imprisoned, Malvo wrote a number of erratic diatribes about what he termed "jihad" against the United States.[25] "I have been accused on my mission. Allah knows I'm gonna suffer now", he wrote.[25] Because his rants and drawings featured not only such figures as Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, but also characters from the film series The Matrix, these musings were dismissed as immaterial.[25] Some investigators reportedly said they had all but eliminated terrorist ties or political ideologies as a motive.[26][27][28] Nonetheless, in at least one of the ensuing murder trials, a Virginia court found Muhammad guilty of killing "pursuant to the direction or order" of terrorism.[29]

A series of trial exhibits suggested Malvo and Muhammad were motivated by an affinity for Islamicist Jihad.[30]

  • Exhibit 65-006: A self-portrait of Malvo in the cross hairs of a gun scope shouting, "ALLAH AKBAR!" The word "SALAAM" scrawled vertically. A lyric from Bob Marley's Natural Mystic "Many more will have to suffer. Many more will have to die. Don't ask me why."
  • Exhibit 65-016: A portrait of Saddam Hussein with the words "INSHALLAH" and "The Protector," surrounded by rockets labeled "chem" and "nuk".
  • Exhibit 65-043: Father and son portrait of Malvo and Muhammad. "We will kill them all. Jihad."
  • Exhibit 65-056: A self-portrait of Malvo as sniper, lying in wait, with his rifle. "JIHAD" written in bold letters.
  • Exhibit 65-067: A suicide bomber labeled "Hamas" walking into a McDonald's restaurant. Another drawing of the Twin Towers burning captioned: "85 percent chance Zionists did this." More scrawls: "ALLAH AKBAR," "JIHAD" and "Islam will explode."
  • Exhibit 65-103: A lion accompanies chapter and verse from the Koran (Sura 2:190): "Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you and slay them wherever ye catch them."
  • Exhibit 65-109: Portrait of Osama bin Laden, captioned "Servant of Allah."
  • Exhibit 65-117: The White House drawn in crosshairs, surrounded by missiles, with a warning: "Sep. 11 we will ensure will look like a picnic to you" and "you will bleed to death little by little."
  • Exhibit 65-101: Malvo's thought for the day: "Islam the only true guidance, the way of peace."

At the 2006 trial of Muhammad, Malvo testified that the aim of the killing spree was to kidnap children for the purpose of extorting money from the government and to "set up a camp to train children how to terrorize cities",[31] with the ultimate goal being to "shut things down" across the United States.[32]

I have seen a lot on this Malvo guy, from people who were very close to him and people with knowledge of the case.   I think the guy is just using this Jihadist thing to illicit sympathy from his Muslim brethern.    He is a sociopath.   He wanted to get some sense of revenge on his wife.  The guy is a total control freak lunatic.

A lunatic is a lunatic, no matter which group he is fighting for, however in the case of Malvo he is trying to justify his actions with Islamic rhetoric, and as far as I am concerned he should be considered a terrorist.  McVey was a terrorist, a domestic one, and he rightfully paid with his life for the atrocites, as should Malvo, the Boston bomber, or any other despicable a0hole who thinks it is OK to kill innocent civilians who are out in the streets. I hope they catch this guy, or this group, and nothing would satisfy me more than a public trial, and if found guilty they should be dispatched.

The "real plan," as told by Lee Boyd Malvo

In Muhammad's May 2006 trial in Montgomery County, Maryland, Malvo took the stand and confessed to a more detailed version of the pair's plans. Malvo, after extensive counseling, admitted that he had been lying in the statement he made after his arrest when he had admitted to being the triggerman for every shooting. Malvo claimed that he had said this in order to protect Muhammad from the death penalty, because it was more difficult to achieve the death penalty for a minor. Malvo stated, "I'm not proud of myself. I'm just trying to make amends", expressing his regret in the shootings.[14] In his two days of testimony, Malvo outlined detailed aspects of all the shootings.

Part of his testimony concerned Muhammad's complete, multiphase plan. His plan consisted of three phases in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore metro areas. Phase One consisted of meticulously planning, mapping, and practicing their locations around the DC area. This way after each shooting they would be able to quickly leave the area on a predetermined path, and move on to the next location. Muhammad's goal in Phase One was to kill six white people a day for 30 days. Malvo went on to describe how Phase One did not go as planned due to heavy traffic and the lack of a clear shot and/or getaway at different locations.[15][16][17][18]

Phase Two was meant to be moved up to Baltimore. Malvo described how this phase was close to being implemented, but never was carried out. Phase Two was intended to begin by killing a pregnant woman by shooting her in the stomach. The next step would have been to shoot and kill a Baltimore police officer. At the officer's funeral, they would plant several improvised explosive devices. These explosives were intended to kill a large number of police, since many police would attend another officer's funeral. More bombs were then to be detonated as ambulances arrived at the scene.[19]

The last phase was to take place very shortly after, if not during, Phase Two. The third phase was to extort several million dollars from the U.S. government. This money would be used to finance a larger plan: to travel north into Canada and recruit other effectively orphaned boys to use weapons and stealth, and send them out to commit shootings across the country.[15][16][17][18]

I wasn't debating the merits of his terrorism.  In fact, I was the one who initially brought it up that he was a domestic terrorist.   The point I was making was that people, like one in this thread, automatically jump to a line of thinking that it must be a Muslim foriegner, or whatever other preconceived notion they have about a terrorist, when that simply isn't the case as proven by our relatively few brushes with terrorism on our own soil.

I have no doubts that he had large plans.  But I believe that at the base of that plan was his desire to murder his wife and make it seem as part of a larger scheme as to not attract attention.   This is a belief held by a good bit of people.   Regardless, it once again does not detract my initial meaning.   3 out of 5 of the cited incidents were American born offenders and only 1 was Muslim.

Dire,

Not all of those attacks had the Muslim religion as a factor.

#14 Michael Reynolds states he was looking for other terrorists, but mentions nothing about Islam or whom he was searching for.   Eric Rudolph was a domestic terrorist and had nothing to do with Islam.

Also #19 states there was an initial belief that it was connected to Al-Qaeda, but there was not tangible evidence to create a link.

Fort Dix plot, nothing to do with Islam.

The syanagogue terror plot mentions nothing of Islam.   By the sound of some of the names, I wonder if it was a white supremacist thing.

No doubt, most were.  I did not read through all of them.   But I would be interested to see a number on how many terror acts were stopped that were from non muslims.   Looking at things like the Michigan Militia and the white supremacist killings going on with DA's right now, terrorism is definitely not relegated to Middle Easterners or Muslims.

And from reading the list that the Heritage group put together, it is alarming how many were U.S. citizens -- Muslim or not.

Monkeysuncle,

Sorry, I should have stated mostly connected with Islam.  46 of the 50 incidents were connected.  The four not were 14, 17, 19, and 27.  That a number of the jehadim were US citizens doesn't surprise me.  For one reason, or another, we've always have such.  The new left in the late 60s and early 70s, the Reds in the 1930s thru the 1950s directly connected to Stalin, and the pro-NSDAP in the 1930s and 1940s of the German-American Bund.

Looks like the love affair between obama and democrats could be cooling. But, with the incident in boston, if he looks sad/angry enough, it might rekindle.

 =============

The United States federal government is rapidly falling out of favor with the country’s Democrats, according to new polling data released by the Pew Research Center.

The federal government has been wildly unpopular for some time, explains Pew, but even with President Barack Obama in the driver’s seat, the percentage of Democrats finding favor with the federal government has plummeted 10 points in the last year, down to just 41 percent of that party.

IF the bombers are caught and verified without doubt to be the Boston Marathon bombers then I saw killing them is too good a punishment for them, at least right away.  I say, as the old testament saying goes, and eye for an eye type punishment would be more fit for these people.

What I say do is amputate their arms and legs, between the knee and waist and let them live from now on without their limbs as they have condemned many to do so with their cowardly act.  Maybe not cut off both legs or both arms but certainly one of each so that they will have to deal with what they have bestowed upon so many innocent people.  I'd be for dipping them in acid and allowing the acid to eat their arm and leg off but that's just me.  Then let um slither along their cage or cell for the next twenty years or so.

Death to many of these people is something they want, they want to be martyrs for their cause so they can get their 20 virgins so I say condemn them to live lives that many of their victims will have to live, without an arm or leg and let them see how they like it.
