Colin Kaepernick wasn’t happy after a jury issued a verdict of not guilty for police officer Jeronimo Janez on Friday. Janez shot and killed Philando Castile during a traffic stop in July.

The free agent quarterback tweeted condolences to the Castile family and then posted a tweet comparing modern police officers to fugitive slave patrols.

A system that perpetually condones the killing of people, without consequence, doesn’t need to be revised, it needs to be dismantled! pic.twitter.com/BVVPVZIQyD — Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) June 16, 2017

Yanez was found not guilty on all the charges brought against him in the case, including second-degree manslaughter and two counts of “intentional discharge of firearm that endangers safety.”

Kaepernick attracted worldwide attention after he refused to stand for the national anthem during games in 2016. He said he was protesting police brutality, racial injustice and the oppression of people of color in the United States.

Kaepenick has not signed with a team, prompting some to say he’s being blackballed by owners because of his stance. New York Giants owner John Mara offered a possible peek into the thinking of NFL owners in May when he claimed that many fans threatened to boycott Giants if they signed Kaepernick.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell repeated his opinion that he did not think teams were blackballing the quarterback, despite a bevy of far less talented quarterbacks signing contracts.

While Kaepernick has said he will stand when the national anthem is played before games in 2017, it’s looks increasingly unlikely he’ll get the opportunity to sign with a team before training camp begins. Teams have completed organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamps and rosters are likely set going into training camp.

I don't think I would want him working for me either; I'm sure he would find something wrong with he job.
