Looks like KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) in Florence is going to get a badly needed makeover or remodeling because as of yesterday (Sunday evening) there was a fire in the front of the building near the KFC sign which is in the northeast corner of the building.  I don't know if there was much damage, smoke or fire, inside the building but that corner did suffer quite a bit of fire and water damage so don't expect to be eating at KFC in Florence anytime soon.

That said KFC in Florence was badly needing some renovation as the building was allowed to go in disrepair and I wouldn't be surprised if the source of the fire was due to old wiring that had been allowed to deteriorate.  Maybe they will take the opportunity to renovate the entire building while they are at it but then given it seems it's privately owned and the owner hasn't done anything to this point they might not now either.

Strange that we've had two restaurants closed account of fires recently.  The Arby's on Florence Blvd has finally opened since their fire last fall and now KFC is going to have to go through it account of fire damage.

Employees were there today with others attempting to determine if they can reopen soon and when.  It appears that the bulk of the damage was to the northeast corner of the building.  They had the sign, on that are of the building, open for a long time with the wiring and bulbs exposed so hard to know if that had anything to do with the fire.

Anyway I hope that the owner or company takes this opportunity to upgrade the entire restaurant because it badly needs it.  They refurbished the 7-Points location and made it much nicer and also Muscle Shoals went through some renovation a while back but the Florence location has remained the same and with the exception of adding a few, badly needed, lights over the ordering area they have let most of the building just go down.

It just seems in need of updating but that may just be me and it might not affect the food quality but it certainly does put it behind other restaurants who have made upgrades, most recently the area Burger Kings.
