Tues. Feb 16, Dick Jordan has put on the agenda a motion to hold a public forum regarding the LAI landfill report. The document is full of misleading and inaccurate information.

If you want to "hear the rest of the story", come out to the meeting this Tuesday @ 5:00 pm @ the Utilities Dept. Pine st. entrance. They will vote after we present our side of the issue.

WILL THE CITY GOVERNMENT CONTINUE WITH THEIR ACTIONS OF SECRECY AND MISINFORMATION? WILL THEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE?

The LAI report is entitled "Preliminary engineering Report...."

That is an understatement.

There are many, many criteria that the ADEM landfill regulations require to be addressed before they will even accept an application for a new landfill. The report fails to address a large number of these, yet concludes, with unjustified optimism, that the proposed landfill site "is well-suited for development of a solid waste landfill" and "meets the entire ADEM landfill siting criteria as described in more detail in this report." It is most markedly deficient in its evaluation of subsurface geology, which is one of the very most significant factors required to be evaluated. In short, any conclusion of acceptability at this time, and at this stage of investigation, is ludicrous on its face! More details concerning this little quick and dirty report and its glaring flaws will be provided by knowledgeable citizens speaking at the upcoming City Council meeting--Comcast, Channel 3, 5:00 p.m. tomorrow!
If we can b*tch about our national gov wrongdoings, we sure as he!! need to b*tch about the local!

This is a sham that we as citizens need to take a stand! Our attendance will say that we will not let them dictate what they think what is best, not as our Representatives!

Let's be there- POWER IN NUMBERS!

It may not matter to you, but it does to me.

Sure they will "ignore the voice of the people". Why not? Put 'em in office and watch them, almost immediately, become all-knowing God-Like creatures. I'm sure, we the people, just don't understand.
I was in attendance- watched as the/us citizens pleaded our case only for an audience with the LAI official. I was astonished at the vote and the motion shot down with something so big that the ripple effect will last for years. I got up and left imminently left when the vote carried.

Don't be surprised citizens on what changes you might find next. If it affects you directly, I hope you plan to attend a meeting because you might have to.
