Sorry, I meant the chain was founded in 1947.

No, the first restaurant was in 1980 in Katy, TX. The decor is 40's. It must have looked quite authentic to you.

Landry's

Edited to add that yes, the sign says something about a tradition since 1947, but that's just their schtick. I asked.

Just as long as their food doesn't taste like schtick. Cool

No! In 1947, Landry’s Seafood House first made its mark as a family-owned eatery in Lafayette, Louisiana. Run out of the family’s home, it became a popular choice for locals and eventually expanded into a successful restaurant business.

I have eaten at Landry"s in New Orleans and in Albuquerque. Both were excellent. I drove by the one in Lafayette and would have eaten there but I was one the way to the restaurant operated by P. Prudhomme's sister. It was also excellent. Has the one in N O been restored! I lost my beloved Irish Channel Bar during Katrina.

Landrys is a very good restaurant but in New Orleans try K-Pauls www.kpauls.com and you will probably not go back to landrys in N O. K-Pauls has no freezer everything is fresh and they have a different menu every day.

Oysters Rockefeller, yum at Landry's. I wish I could remember where that place that Guy From Diners Drive-Ins and Dives was at, the owner was making Oysters Rockefeller and putting a slice of tomatoe under the cheese. Looked yummy.

Where was he?
