Lauderdale County Sheriff: Vote Ty Barrett!!

Apparently I didnt make myself clear enough: I WANT TO HEAR FROM ANY BODY THAT THINKS THE SHERIFFS DEPART. HAS DONE A GOOD JOB......NOT JUST FOLKS THAT SIT BACK AND "HEAR" THINGS....I WANT SOMEONE THAT HAS ACTUALLY HAD DEALINGS WITH THEM TO TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD.........So far I havent heard anything good......that's why I am asking!!!!!


and as far as the 65%.....I have had a lot of folks tell me it was the lesser of 2 evils, so yes I JUST WANT TO HEAR SOMETHING GOOD THAT I HAVENT HEARD!!

I've had dealings with the sheriff's department. I was satisfied.

I have had stuff stolen in the City of Florence and gotten little done about it. Can I complain about them? Property Crimes are not a top priority for any department. It's unfortunate but it is what it is.

Oh and I do think Willis does a good job as well as the majority of the officers at the Dept.

Vote Ronnie Willis. I have had occasion to deal with the dept on stolen tools and air compressor. it took a while but they recovered it. Ronnie always has time to talk to anyone and i think he runs it great.

I'll tell you what I'm not satisfied with, whatever school system you attended.

Well I have first hand knowledge of the way things are handled at the sheriffs office. Before I continue let me say that Ronnie Willis is a really good person, however as a sheriff he has never shown leadership abilities. I am very thankful for him hiring me at a time when I really needed it and I'll never forget that but as a citizen of Lauderdale County I really want to see someone with the leadership skills needed to do the job. Im not concerned about having a sheriff that will come up and shake my hand and ask how my family is doing, I could care less if the sheriff even knows who I am as long as he or she is getting the job done. It is not a good feeling knowing some of the things I know about the way calls for help are handled at the sheriffs office. I have some really good friends who work at the sheriffs office and they are really good employees but they are only going to be as good as their "leader" allows them to be. I was employeed there as a dispatcher several years back and was told to hang up on callers if they were screaming, yelling, and cussing. Well these people were in some type of crisis obviously and maybe didnt know how to handle the situation they were in, they were calling who they had always been told to call for help and then getting hung up on!!! I refused to hang up on anyone, however this is how dispatchers at LASO were trained to handle this kind of situation. But believe me thats just the tip of the iceberg, there are numerous other problems that the general public just doesnt even know about. Please think about this when you are making your decision on who to vote for. Are you comfortable with knowing that if a family member calls for help and is so scared that they are screaming and yelling for help, they may get hung up on? And for the record, yes I am a former employee but not a disgruntled one.

I have called the sheriffs dept on one occasion and someone was breaking into our shop, we could hear them out there talking to each other,we called the LCSD and they said stay in the house and someone will be right there. THREE hours later a deputy showed up wearing no gun belt and he had on house shoes, and after three hours, of course, they were gone, with some very expensive tools. We need a sherrif who will be a leader and not be more worried about making someone mad than making sure the county is taken care of. thats why i am voting for TY BARRETT. we need a change in Lauderdale county.

You are one of the lucky few

we got our house burglarized in 2002. Had eye witnesses, But we got, and I quote " well, It's their word against theirs. Waited for the idiot to get home and got my stuff back myself. That was a different sheriff then. I do how ever think that Ronnie is a very good sheriff.

Same here. Florence seems to have given up on theft. We caught a guy red handed and they didnt even do a report. Had to call and raise h@!! to get someone out to do a report.

I was the victim of a home invasion a few years ago. I was in my home alone when I heard a door being kicked in. I called 911 and hid, while I was hiding I could hear my house being torn apart. As a woman, alone I was terrified to say the least.

When I heard them leaving I ran out and looked through a window. I saw the 2 guys and KNEW them. When the deputy FINALLY arrived about 45 minutes later I told him who they were, what they drove, where they lived. I even gave him directions to their house.

Nothing has ever come of this. I still see one of them on occasion when I go out in the community. It is really hard to not take matters into your own hands when you see someone who has violated the security of your home just go on with life as if nothing ever happened. I know for a fact that these same boys have robbed other homes since mine. As far as I know they have never been arrested. We were broke into 2 more times by friends of these boys. We began to believe we were seen as an easy target. The last time we were out of town with our son when we were broken into. From the items stolen and from information we ourselves gathered from neighbors we knew who it was. We found our own items at a pawn shop and had the pawn shop owner notify the LCSD and tell them who brought the items in. After doing all their work for them, they turned around and tried to say that our son that had been with us the whole time had done the burglary. No matter what we said the investigator just kept right on pushing the matter. We even ask him to look into where we were while out of town because they had video of our son in that location at the time of the break in. He was going on the word of the boy that sold our items to a pawn shop. It didn't matter that we were telling him that our son was with us the whole time. Our word meant less to the SD than the criminals did. In the end, it was handled very badly and the boy was allowed to be on work release while waiting for his trial. He walked away and as far as I know has not been pick up to this day.

I have personally spoke with Ronnie Willis about this and he was very kind and promised to look into it...once again NOTHING.

So apparently someone can break into your home and steal from you and you can see them do it and the LCSO could careless.

Amen JRTULLY, and Jankinonya, we went through the same thing....My husband saw one of the coming out of our house, had all four of them in the yard, AND the investigators said "I have no doubt that they are the ones that robbed you" and still NOTHING!!!
