Liberal members of this forum: here's your chance.  Attempt to enlighten us, if you will.  Tell us EXACTLY what you believe in and what you think your rights are.  C'mon....no beating around the bush or deflecting the issue, please.

That is waaaaaay too complex an issue , and the discussion is waaaaay too nuanced to discuss on a forum .

There is a short answer tho, and I will speak for myself and not all Liberals.
I believe that the government should stay out of the private lives of the citizenry. There is no reason the government should dictate what choices a woman should have in her most personal health affairs (put this first because that is about all the House of Rep seems to want to regulate)

, and I can't understand how the government should regulate who should marry who. I personally don't care if two men or two women want to marry each other, and the argument that "it will destroy the meaning of marriage"  dosen't make any sense. My wife and I have been married for almost 45 years and what someone else does does not diminish our relationship.

I believe we have the right to clean water and healthy food in stores. If we wish to buy food from individuals, we have the right to do that regardless of it's safety. I do not believe that Nestle or any other corporation for that matter , should control the water or food supply period.

I believe we have the right to worship God , in whatever way we see fit, or not without government interference so long as we abide by the laws of the land.

I believe we have the right to work in a safe environment, and the right to be paid at least a living wage. Failure to pay a living wage results in what the right wing bunch derides so much now, people getting food stamps so they can exist on a sub standard wage, but if they do, they have the right not to be called "moochers".

I believe we have the right to free speech , and freedom of expression, don't believe that people demonstrating by sitting down on a set of steps should be pepper sprayed by some idiot with a complex that he is God.

That is kind of a start, in general basically what Teddy Roosevelt advocated during his administration, personal freedom, and control of corporations so they don't exploit the workers, and poison our food , air and water.

I would agree with Seeweed on all points.

Also, take the control of our elections back from the handful of billionaires that are picking who we can vote for. They decide who is running and what issues they will try and make into law. Campaign finance reform is a must.

I would like to see universal healthcare so that no one in this country has to choose between food and shelter or life saving medicine and treatments.

On average, women are still only making 77 cents for each $1 a man makes. Equal pay is a must.

We should also stop the privatizing of our prison system. Mandatory sentences should also be redefined to only include violent crimes.

The war on drugs must end. It cost too much money and destroys peoples lives and their families.

We should invest in the education of our children. Not just primary school but college or technical schools should be either very low cost or free for those that can't afford higher or continued education. If we keep falling behind the rest of the industrialized countries in this aspect we are doomed in the inevitable changes that are coming.

Spending needs to be gotten under control. Not at the expense of the middle class and poor, but on government waste and crony contracts for goods that we don't need. Spending on subsidies for large corporations, should be stopped. The government should not be picking winners and losers. If we used our tax dollars to do what they were intended to do then spending would decrease drastically. If those that are making record breaking profits were paying the amount they should we would also see increased revenue. Close the loop holes that the corporations have bought and paid for.( See my first point for how they do that.)

Repeal the Patriot Act and the 2008 FISA ACT. Clamp down on the NSA and give us back our civil liberties that they have taken.

Strengthen the wall of separation between church and state.

Stop the attacks on womens rights.
