At Washington’s National Cathedral

It looked like a chilling scene from a Last Days, anti-Christ-takes-over-the-world disaster movie. Hundreds of Muslims take over America’s most notable church, prostrate on their prayer rugs as their unified chant echoes out in full volume: “There is only one god, he begets not and I bear witness that Muhammad is His only servant and Apostle."

Only this was not a movie. This was the scene, last Friday, for the first time in history, at the iconic National Cathedral in Washington, where orthodox Muslim clerics were invited to lead an Islamic prayer service. A congregation of hundreds were lead by an Imam in declaring that “god has no son, that Jesus Christ cannot be his son, and that there is no god like Allah.”

Only a single middle-age woman jumped up in the middle of the service and shouted, “America was founded on Christian principles. .?.?. Leave our church alone!” She was escorted quickly out of the church by security guards.

The National Cathedral in Washington, DC has been an extremely important symbol of the Christian roots of the United States. The cathedral was designated by Congress as America's "National House of Prayer." The church has hosted a number of inaugural presidential prayer services, including Franklin Roosevelt and both presidents Bush.

The Rev. Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham, took to Facebook in reaciton to the Muslim prayer service:

“The National Cathedral in Washington, DC–one of the most prominent Episcopal churches in America–will host a Muslim prayer service to Allah. It’s sad to see a church open its doors to the worship of anything other than the One True God of the Bible, who sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to earth to save us from our sins. Jesus was clear when He said, 'I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me' (John 14:6)."

As of this writing, 80,000 people had “liked” Graham’s post.

The Islamic service at the cathedral was ostensibly intended to promote interfaith dialogue. Its organizers said that they hoped the service would “help correct some Americans’ misperceptions of Muslims as extremists and reinforce tolerance among faiths.”

However, it is hard to understand how a Christian church opening its sanctuary for Islamic prayers that renonce Jesus Christ contributes to interfaith tolerance. Muslims would never allow a Christian to preach the Gospel in a mosque. Palestinian Muslims continue to ban all Jews and Christians from praying at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. It would appear that “interfaith dialogue and tolerance” are just more code words calling for Muslims to rise up and conquer.

The Washington Post reported that the Islamic prayer service was closed to the public because of security concerns. Armed guards checked every person and every bag of those in attendance.

Islam is growing rapidly around the world, and is now the third-largest religion in the United States, behind Christianity and Judaism, with an estimated 2.6 million American Muslim citizens.

Vic, my Friend,

While I totally agree with you and others that Muslims worshiping their Islamic god, Allah, do not belong in any Christian church -- I DO DISAGREE with your discussion title -- "Muslims Chant to Remove Jesus."

That is a misrepresentation designed to inflame folks.   NO, I am not supporting Muslims -- other than to say that they do have a right to worship as they please "in their own mosque, church, or whatever" -- keeping totally in line with the First Amendment.

But their chant was not "Muslims Chant to Remove Jesus."

Their chant was:  “There is only one god, he begets not and I bear witness that Muhammad is His only servant and Apostle."

Regardless of how wrong it is -- that is their religion.  They believe that Allah is god -- and they believe that Muhammad is his highest prophet.  They do view Jesus Christ as another prophet and a great teacher -- and they believe that He is second only to Muhammad.

Notice that they chant, "he begets not" -- for, in their mind that represents God having a sexual relationship with Mary -- which you and I know is a completely wrong understanding of His Holy Spirit conception.

And, we know that Allah is an impersonal god created by Muhammad -- and is not the God of the Bible.  The God of the Bible is a very personal God -- both transcendent (outside our universe, because He created it) and immanent (totally involved in all aspects of the daily, worldly lives of all Christian believers).

All that said, let's refute Islam -- but, let's do it with truth and from the Bible.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Bill Gray,

You say, "Notice that they chant, "he begets not" -- for, in their mind that represents God having a sexual relationship with Mary -- which you and I know is a completely wrong understanding of His Holy Spirit conception."

You have difficulty enough correctly interpreting the Bible.  Now you come along with a totally erroneous interpretation of the Koran.  Here--from a site maintained by Muslims--is how THEY interpret the passage in the Koran that says that God "begets not."

112.3. "He begets not, nor is He begotten.PrintE-mail

لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

3. "He begets not, nor is He begotten.2

2. Declaring that God begets not, and nor is He begotten is such an evident principle for the Divine Being that it is mentioned here to refute all creeds that attribute sons or daughters to God. It primarily and categorically refutes the pagans' attribution to Him of the angels as daughters and the Christians' seeing Him as the Father of Jesus, upon him be peace, or their attributing Jesus, upon him be peace, to Him as a son.

Thus, Bill, to a Muslim the clause "He begets not" is an unqualified  denial that Jesus is the Son of God--the only BEGOTTEN Son of God. To them the question of what KIND of begetting was involved in the begetting of Jesus is immaterial.  They wholly deny that there was ANY begetting of any kind of Jesus by God the Father or God the Holy Ghost, sexually, asexually, physically or spiritually or by any other means whatsoever. Muslims are denying that He is the "only begotten Son" of God. It is there in their own words, on a MUSLIM web site. And they did this within the National Cathedral, thanks to the hyper-ecumenical hospitality of the American Episcopal Church, an organization rank with heresy and getting more so as time passes.

Contendah, my Friend,

There are times, many times, when I believe you begin to argue the minute you see my name -- and then attempt to find some little flaw in what I have written to justify your "urgent jump" to judge.

I will admit that I do make mistakes.  Otherwise, if I were perfect I would have died for your sins and saved Jesus Christ the trouble.  But, alas, I am just a flawed, often weak, "forgiven sinner."

If you would have read my writing before jumping --  you will see that you and I agree!  I realize that is hard on your ulcers, but truth must be told!

My problem with Vic's post was not what he had copy/pasted from some mystery writer -- but it was the title he chose to tack onto this person's writing.  His title is "Muslims Chant to Remove Jesus."

And, I wrote:

"While I totally agree with you and others that Muslims worshiping their Islamic god, Allah, do not belong in any Christian church -- I DO DISAGREE with your discussion title -- "Muslims Chant to Remove Jesus."

My Friend, you really do need to take something for your "Bill Gray ulcers!"

Bless your little heart!

And also:

In an article entitled "The Revival of Slavery," the Islamic State actually takes pride in being able to fulfill "The Sword Verse," which commands Muslims to "kill the idolaters wherever you find them, and capture them, and besiege them." From a Muslim point of view, the enslavement of many Yazidi families is a sensible and commendable way of serving Allah. Indeed, they are taking pride in not to separating enslaved women from their children. How noble.

The same issue of Dabiq also cited the September speech of Islamic State spokesman Mohammad al-Adnani, who brashly warned the "crusaders" (America and Europe) thus: "We will conquer your Rome, break your crosses, and enslave your women … so mobilize your forces, O crusaders … roar with thunder, threaten whom you want, plot, arm your troops, prepare yourselves, strike, kill, and destroy us. This will not avail you. You will be defeated … for our Lord … has promised our victory and your defeat."

In the Islamic State’s view of the world, Israel is merely a Roman military outpost that must be taken before marching on Europe. For this reason, Israel is far from being the focus of this magazine, which is all about waging an apocalyptic war against America and Europe.

In fact, one might be disappointed to discover that the latest issue of Dabiq doesn’t mention at all the Palestinians or the summer’s Gaza war, which dominated headlines in the rest of the world.

Dabiq, at least, is honest enough to acknowledge, if not indirectly, that Israel is not the cause of the conflict in the Middle East. Likewise, nowhere does Dabiq suggest that the end of the Jewish state is the ultimate goal of Islam. Europe and Obama may try to deflect Islamic vengefulness away from them by blaming Israel for everything, but, unfortunately for them, the Muslim faithful won’t be deterred by this PR spin.

Vic, my Friend,

Once again, your class (or lack thereof) is showing!

But, that aside (some things will never change) -- the whole point I was making is that your title  "Muslims Chant to Remove Jesus" -- does not fit the text of the article.  Nor does it fit the teaching of Islam.  Islam does not accept nor recognize the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, nor do they accept his deity.

To them, Jesus was a great prophet and teacher, second only to Muhammad -- but He was not, in their religion, the Son of God.

And, that is what their chant is

“There is only one god, he begets not and I bear witness that Muhammad is His only servant and Apostle."

I was not saying that the article you copy/pasted was wrong -- only the title you added to it.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Vic, my Friend,

Show us -- from any credible source -- where you have found in any Islamic writing or the Qur'an that it is written that "Muslims Chant to Remove Jesus."

My Friend, hate all you want.  From your past posts you hate all conservative Christians as much, or more, than you hate Muslims.  But, when you spread your hatred -- at least attempt to base it upon some truth.   I realize that dealing only with the truth is very difficult for you.  But, please give it a try.

Bless your little heart!

You must have missed this part:

"To them the question of what KIND of begetting was involved in the begetting of Jesus is immaterial. "

But it was not immaterial to you, as anyone reading your comment can plainly see. If YOU can not see the difference than you are not worth the effort it takes to explain it to you.

Contendah, my Friend,

Regarding your concern for the use of the word "beget" as it applies to causing a human life, please let me know what YOU believe it means.    I would say that "beget" means to impregnate.   If you know of another way of making a baby -- please let us know.

The Muslims see their god, Allah, as totally holy and will never accept that fact that he impregnated the virgin Mary, physically or spiritually.  Therefore, to them, for us to say that Jesus Christ is the Son of God is a heresy.

To the Muslims, Jesus was a great teacher, a prophet -- but NOT the Son of God.

You and I know that He is the Son of God, second person of the Trinity.  But, then, we are not Muslims.

Yet, I realize that after browsing through my post, the only thing you could find to attempt a disagreement was the definition of "beget."  And, once again, your Bill Gray ulcer is acting up.

Try having a warm glass of milk while you do a literal reading of the Bible. That might relax your ulcer for a while -- or at least until you read another of my Conservative Christian posts.

Relax, bless your little heart!
