One of my regulars just came in to check on whether a mutual friend running for a local election won. (He didn't.) I told him I was sorry our friend lost but I also said, "I'm happy my president won."
This guy is one of those Tea Partiers. He started YELLING at me! He said I was gloating. All I said was exactly what I quoted above - "I'm happy my president won." I wouldn't call that gloating, just stating a fact. Well this guy was waving his arms and telling me I had better keep my mouth shut or I was going to lose all of my customers. He then proceeded to tell me I would never see him in my store again.
That's pretty funny to me because although this guy comes to the jam sessions every week, he never BUYS anything. He gets his strings online, he buys EVERYTHING online. He just comes in and drinks my coffee, eats my snacks, annoys most of the other regulars because of his overbearing personality, and offends just about everyone he talks to.
So not only do I have President Obama to thank for taking this country in the right direction, but I can now thank him for getting rid of this pest for me!

Tey, this was what I posted.
Stating a fact that this guy already knew is not gloating. We were talking about the election, he knew I would be voting for Obama, and all I said was that I was happy he won. Do you think if the race had gone the other way HE wouldn't have mentioned he was happy HIS guy won? How about you? If Romney had won, would you not post here that you were glad? If you did, would it be because you wanted to gloat and goad people to anger?
If I wanted to GLOAT, I could easily do it with emoticons and pictures of fireworks and the like. If I had wanted to gloat to this Tea Party guy, I could have said "HAhaha! I told you so!" All I said was, "I'm sorry our firend lost, but I'm happy that my president won". And yes, I said MY president becausee this clown has always said, "He might be YOUR president, but he's not MY president".
Even when Bush was president, I never said such a thing. I didn't like Bush one bit, but I never denied he was president of the USA, which I am a part of.
You are just going to have to get over your loss. Obama IS president, and if the COUNTRY is what you care about, you should, like Skippy in another thread, be praying for him to lead our country into better times. But if you want to write and encourage your legislators to fight him every step of the way, then YOU are part of the problem. And rather than the best interest of America, you have the best interest of Republicans at heart.
So sad.
