First, I congratulate President Obama and all of his supporters.

And I HOPE that the Republicans in Congress will see this as a wake up call. Their prime objective was to see Obama lose this election, and that is why they did their best to block everything he tried to do. That ended up NOT harming Obama, but it DID harm the American people.

I hope that now that they don't have to "worry" about him winning the NEXT election, and now that they have seen that the American people are disgusted with the gridlock, they will finally do their JOBS, and try to move this country forward.

If they don't, the mid-term election will see most Republicans lose their seats, and they won't have a chance to win any seat in high office for a very long time.

I think it's GOOD to have a balance, IF compromise can be achieved. Here's hoping they have learned that lesson, and that the people of America will benefit from it!

I dont see them as "trying to prevent his re-election" so much as trying to prevent the promtion of his agenda, and for the good of those of us who still have some semblance of sanity, I hope they continue to represent our interests and try to block as much of this Liberal crap as they can.  At least they have managed to hold onto the House and still have enough DINO in Congress who are fearful of losing their re-election bids to prevent this guy from going too much farther in his exercise to drive us to what he thinks is a utopia.

As the new year looms expect to see higher unemployment rates and layoffs, and the stock market continue to smolder along as businesses look at bleak futures.

In 2012 is is " We are headed for a socialist society where everyone is living off of the government and  everyone has an Obama iPhone!"

You people crack me up sometimes....LOL Just calm down as the rest of us drag your archaic, drama queen butt into the future and away from the scare tactics of the greedy, warmongering Republicans.

Oh happy day!!!!

One of my regulars just came in to check on whether a mutual friend running for a local election won. (He didn't.) I told him I was sorry our friend lost but I also said, "I'm happy my president won."

This guy is one of those Tea Partiers. He started YELLING at me! He said I was gloating. All I said was exactly what I quoted above - "I'm happy my president won." I wouldn't call that gloating, just stating a fact. Well this guy was waving his arms and telling me I had better keep my mouth shut or I was going to lose all of my customers. He then proceeded to tell me I would never see him in my store again.

That's pretty funny to me because although this guy comes to the jam sessions every week, he never BUYS anything. He gets his strings online, he buys EVERYTHING online. He just comes in and drinks my coffee, eats my snacks, annoys most of the other regulars because of his overbearing personality, and offends just about everyone he talks to.

So not only do I have President Obama to thank for taking this country in the right direction, but I can now thank him for getting rid of this pest for me!

I will fall into the category of those whose taxes are raised. I can pay it and still live a very good life. If you are in that category and can not still make a very good living by paying a few thousand dollars more a year, then you have not been very good with managing your money.

Most of us know what has to been done and are willing to do it. I am willing to make some sacrifices to see this country succeed. Cutting taxes in a slow economy is not the answer. It has never worked before and it will not work now.

Business is doing fine, Tey. But you are starting to sound like that guy I spoke of earlier who won't come into my shop anymore because I said I was happy that Obama won.  You and a few others here can't seem to see how "out there" you sound, claiming that anyone who voted for Obama is a welfare scammer. You need to calm down, and maybe stop thinking about politics for a while until you can look at things realistically. Because right now you are shooting from the hip and, quite frankly, making a fool of yourself. I say that with all due respect because I have enjoyed some of our previous debates. But really, I think your temper is getting the best of you right now and you are saying things that make you look like one of the tin-foil hat crowd.

O No! I wished I frequented your business and you told me that. First off we don't discuss poltics in a real work place with customers, it is bad form, and for you to do so just shows that you are full of yourself and want to gloat in your win.  Hopefully it drives your customers away.

AS to raising taxes, so be it, just do it fairly, across the board, everyone sees the increase, and not put all of the demands on a certain portion of the population.  to do so is to drive a deeper wedge and shows that this has been nothing BUT redistribution of wealth.

Tell you whht Jank, take a 30% pay cut with two kids in college and then look at further increase in your tax burden.  Come back and let me know how that works out for you.,,,,you guys are hilarious.

No I feel 33 % plus any local and state fees is enough to pay, you can always pay more if you want too.

See? You HOPE I will lose business. Is that sour grapes or what?

Did you read my post about this guy? He came in to ask me if our mutual friend won. There was no one else in here at the time, and he came IN to discuss politics. He KNOWS I am a Democrat, and he KNEW I would be voting for Obama. I simply stated I was happy Obama won and he went off on me, well, sort of the way YOU are doing. HE thinks that losing his business (WHAT business?!) will hurt me, and now YOU say you hope my business fails. Don't you see what you sound like?! I feel sorry for you, not because your guy lost, but because you are taking it so badly.

If you believe in America, then you just have to accept that Obama won this election because more people wanted him to win. You may not LIKE the people who voted for him, but they are Americans too, and unless you want only white Republican votes to count, you are just going to have to accept that more Americans chose Obama than Romney. It's the way our system was set up, and the system is working as it was intended. OK?

No, you mentioned Obama, not the guy asking you if your friend won, you said it yourself.  You goaded him into it and then gloated over the Obama victory.  I am sure he is just as happy doing his business on the internet, and if he is careful he can avoid paying taxes  Get off your highhorse and admit it.  I do not wish your business to fail, I simply hope you do not have to go thru the same thing as myself and my colleagues, but then again you get what you charge, and I am told what I will be paid for the work I do.

It was not just "white Republicans" that voted against this obomination. And despite what you may think the election was pretty darned close. Were it not for two states he would have been shown the door, but those states were bought with TARP money and auto bailouts so it pretty much assured his re-election, which is what I predicted on this forum weeks ago.

See I already knew we have reached a tipping point.  When over half of the people in this country are dependent on the government for some form of assistance there is no way they could have lost.  Like Rush Limbaugh is quoted with saying today..."It is hard to beat Santa Claus when the other option is to work".

You have a good day and continue to gloat in your win, while whispering about  compromise and healing, much like the others on here I am have grown tired of the rhetoric.  I am going to concentrate more on writing and calling Republican senators and legislators to stand their ground and not allow the further putrid stench of this administration to damage some of our livelihoods. As for the charities I used to donate to, I will tell them to contact the government, it is on their hands now.

Amen!! The government, and I'll add the churches with their billions of tax free dollars, can take up my slack too. Like I posted, we knew he could be re-elected for the reasons you mention (obama gonna give us stuff) and other reasons too. One of those being that although they sit and type about how they did it on their own, and they make a good living, and all is well in their worlds, and how they just luvvvvvvvvvv people, they still have a festering hatred for anyone they think has more than them. That's why they vote to punish and rob productive people. Knowing this, we did make our "back-up" plans.  So again, they can go right ahead and "take over", and enjoy the ride, but they'll  be doing it without my money. And I hope there are a few hundred thousand more that are able to do the same as we're going to do.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tey, this was what I posted.

Stating a fact that this guy already knew is not gloating. We were talking about the election, he knew I would be voting for Obama, and all I said was that I was happy he won. Do you think if the race had gone the other way HE wouldn't have mentioned he was happy HIS guy won? How about you? If Romney had won, would you not post here that you were glad? If you did, would it be because you wanted to gloat and goad people to anger?

If I wanted to GLOAT, I could easily do it with emoticons and pictures of fireworks and the like. If I had wanted to gloat to this Tea Party guy, I could have said "HAhaha! I told you so!" All I said was, "I'm sorry our firend lost, but I'm happy that my president won". And yes, I said MY president becausee this clown has always said, "He might be YOUR president, but he's not MY president".

Even when Bush was president, I never said such a thing. I didn't like Bush one bit, but I never denied he was president of the USA, which I am a part of.

You are just going to have to get over your loss. Obama IS president, and if the COUNTRY is what you care about, you should, like Skippy in another thread, be praying for him to lead our country into better times. But if you want to write and encourage your legislators to fight him every step of the way, then YOU are part of the problem. And rather than the best interest of America, you have the best interest of Republicans at heart.

So sad.

Oh, look, someone rooting for failure...

So what are you going to do, Best, bank all of your money offsh ore? Move to another country? Doctor your books and hide your money under a mattress?

If anyone has a "festering hatred" for anyone it is you. You hate the churches, you hate the poor, the old, and the disabled, you hate Democrats who make up more than half of this country, and it is quite obvious by now that you hate the truth.

The first thing I noticed about your statement was 'MY' president won. So you have already started the partisanship yourself.  He's not THE president, he's YOUR president.

Well, he isn't MY president, but he is the President and unlike the hypocritical left who whined about GW for 8 years, I will respect the office he holds and HOPE he does too.

Unless BOTH sides of the political parties are willing to compromise, expect the country to be in the same sad shape in 4 more years, only with less doctors.

So wiriting to my senators and others on behalf of my family's well being is part of the problem?  Yeah, you need to get over yourself.  It is OK for you to do it, but if I do it I am not doing what is best for my country.

I am over the election, like I said I was not surprised, but I don't have to roll over and enjoy it once again, I will continue to support legislators and candidates who advocate personal responsibility instead of sucking from the government teat.

Name calling? LOL-old duckie, you're the queen of name calling. You can call me a hater, post outright lies about me, and I can't call you on your lies? Not surprised you'd consider that a compliment, doubt you get any real ones.

Yes, if you count those registered, and the independents who lean Democratic, it is over 50%. (Which is one of the reasons Obama won yesterday.)

Everyone who voted for Obama would not have been Democrat. I would guess he got some votes from people who just didn't like Romney and the independents can't be counted for or against the democrats.

He did win the popular vote by about 2.5 million giving him a 51.2% of the total vote.

Not exactly a landslide as predicted by the liberals and I hope he realizes that. Right now, half the US wants him and the other half doesn't.  Not a great place to be.

Very similar to GW's first term.
