Please go to the Energy Information Adminsitrations web site, it has alot of good info. There are many factors that our local governments are faced with when it comes to natural gas. This is one of the most regulated industries we see today.. Prices are not set by one single factor. Gas prices are different in each gas district. It depends largely on the ability of the buyer and the ability to store, the market price, the cost to transport through the pipelines ect.. they are fined if they buy to much or to little. Alot to it , it is not as simple as most would like to think..........

If you will read the above mentioned web site you would be informed. This is one subject that in this area, will always be of "high talk"
That is because the general public has no IDEA of what really goes on. They hear something or come up with wild ideas and then run with it...
The very best way to know what is going on is to educate one self on the topic.... I' m sure Mike Doyle at the Florence Gas Deapartment or any of the top management will be glad to answer any and all question you might have...
and why is it just gas we are disscusing, what about water, sewer rates and power rates????? these are just as high as the others....and are going up all the time
Our State Gov't officials COULD do something about this, but I knew from the beginning that it would never happen. Too much money to be squeezed from consumers. And PSC has nothing to do with the pricing in the districts... local and state governments do. Write your Senators, Congressmen and GOVERNOR, and let them know that YOU KNOW this.
Florence has promised NG prices will stabilize this year. They better or more people will be bailing out. I'm now all electic except for our gas logs (emergency use only) and a hobby shop overhead gas heater. My NG usage this year will be less than 10% of past years and I plan to cut service each spring and start it back in the late fall. I'd use electric in the shop but it's on commercial rates. TVA may go up but at least they tell you about it in advance.
