I think some of you misunderstood my question. It wasn't whether we should drink or not. It was that my husband didn't feel good about putting himself in that kind of environment.
Neither of us drink nor do we desire to.

We ended up having a nice evening. We went out to a dinner & a movie, got home about midnight.
Thank you all for giving me your opinion on this. It's been very interesting reading all the comments. You're a great bunch. Wink

If you notice the edit made today on my original post, it's not because I added or took away from it but because I tried to put this post within that post, & it didn't work.
What was I thinking. Roll Eyes Big Grin
Anything could be taken for a sin if you abuse it. That's why there is moderation in life. Case and point: if let TV, money, alcohol, or whatever it may be dominate your life and your decisions, then yes it is wrong. However, part of being accountable is knowing when something is too much. Too many people put too much faith in socialized religion. If they would look back throughout history they would find half of the wars were fought over religion and not GOD. Hello, the crusades.. Just because the Pope spoke a thirty minute speech the next 200 hundred years had unwarranted blood shed. GOD did not will it, whatever the catholic church wants to believe. The point is this, read the bible for yourself and follow what it says. When you put too much faith in men you will most often be let down. This includes his religion!

I'll say it again: I am not a Christian!! Non-christian people don't normally read the bible...I know I don't.

I know quite a few that claim to be a Christian who obviously have not read the Bible in a long time, if ever Wink And if they did, they only picked up what morals they personally found palatable...and discarded the rest Smiler

Or twisted it to suit their own purpose.
Drinking is not a sin!! Where is there a direct quote in the bible "thou shalt not drink." The fact is drinking, in the middle ages, was getting out of hand and had to be suppressed. The authorities in power wanted something done, and since religion was so powerful then it was made out to be a sin. Thus it has been handed down thought the centuries as a sin to control the alcoholics of the world.
The Bible doesn't say don't drink. It says not to take ANYTHING to excess whether that is booze, food, sex anything. To not put anything before God. A drink is not a problem. Too many drinks is a problem. When you would rather go out to the bar than to do anything with your family or go to church or read your Bible and the only praying you do is to get home without a wreck or a DUI then that is a sin.
