Nick Saban receives the College Football Playoff trophy after Alabama won the College Football Playoff National Championship football game, Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at JW Marriott in Scottsdale, Ariz. Vasha Hunt/vhunt@al.com

Nick Saban's used to comparisons to peers like Urban Meyer, perhaps a Les Miles or Bob Stoops.

A new list puts him among presidents, Supreme Court justices and the Pope. Fortune Magazine ranked Alabama's football coach the No. 11 leader in the world in a top-50 list released Thursday. That puts him right between No. 10 Sheikh Hasina, prime minister of Bangladesh and No. 11 Huateng "Pony" Ma, chairman and CEO of Tencent.

Saban is the first football coach at any level to make the top 50 in its three-year existence. In 2014, Mike Krzyzewski, Gregg Popovich, Dawn Staley shared the No. 20 ranking. LeBron James was No. 31 last year.

Nick Saban's career, by the numbers

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos was No. 1 in the 2016 list followed by notables Pope Francis (No. 4), Apple CEO Tim Cook (No. 5), Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Saban came in ahead of Bono (No. 14) and Steph Curry/Steve Kerr (No. 15).

Under Saban's description, Fortune noted the questions about Alabama's dynasty after losing to Ole Miss in September and the climb back to the top.

"... When Alabama defeated Clemson 45–40 for another title on Jan. 11, 2016, he had his answer, and the dynasty—and Saban's legacy as a leader—remained intact."
