Most Alabama candidates got a good grade from the NRA despite their party affiliation. For example, both Ron Sparks and Robert Bentley got a GRADE A from the NRA, but neither were endorsed. Some candidates, and yes some Democrats, got a full NRA endorsement. Lt. Gov. Jim Folsom was endorsed by the NRA and so was our local State Rep. Mike Curtis and Senate candidate Tammy Irons.
This is the Gun Owners of America endorsement for Mo Brooks. This will answer your question on why GOA wants Mo Brooks in Congress and not Steve Raby.

"Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is pleased to announce the endorsement of Mo Brooks for Congress in Alabama’s Fifth District.

Mo Brooks is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment and is committed not only to opposing the anti-gun schemes of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but also to work to roll back the unconstitutional gun laws already on the books.

His opponent will be another vote to keep House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in power—a San Francisco liberal whose radical, anti-gun agenda is far out of step with the values of Alabama voters.

Gun Owners of America is proud to endorse Mo Brooks, and urges gun owners and sportsmen in the district to volunteer for and contribute to his campaign at http://mobrooksforcongress.com.

And most importantly, make sure your pro-gun family members and friends in Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District vote for Mo Brooks on Election Day."

In a recent debate, the topic of hunting and guns came up.

Steve Raby is a lifelong member of the NRA and says he still enjoys hunting.

Mo Brooks said he loves table tennis and hasn't been hunting in decades.

The Gun Owners of American prefer a table tennis player over an actual hunter?

Yes, too bad you can't believe nothing Steve Raby says.

Where in the Second Amendment is the word "hunter"? The Second Amendment is about the rights of the citizens to be armed for the purpose of protection against tyranny. The protection of 2nd Amendment gun owners rights is the purpose of the Gun Owners of America (GOA). That is why Mo Brooks is endorsed by GOA because he is the stronger candidate with respect to defending the constitution and defending our liberties.
Hunting is a recreational activity and maybe Raby could get endorsed by Field and Stream magazine. The Congressional Black Caucus endorsed Raby because he is a liberal. Do your research Steve Raby is a closet liberal attempting to charade and fool voters into thinking he is a "conservative". Those gambling bosses picked Raby's PACs exclusively out of hundereds of other PACs to launder their money to influcence politicians. Why is that? Maybe ethics or lack there of had something to do with it?
Not saying that there is even such a thing as an honest politician but, I watched the Raby/Brooks debate this weekend and I noticed that Raby really had a hard time making eye contact. Now I'm no expert but when a man can't look you in the eye when he talks that makes me a little bit leery. Did Raby look you in the eye when he said that or did he look down?
