Once upon a time, London was the safest place in the western world. Bobbies patrolled armed with a short rubber truncheon, a whistle, handcuffs and a key to a police call box (think Dr. Who's time machine).
That's long gone.

However, between the NYC mayor, Comrade de Blasio and mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, it'll be a race to see which screws up the most.
When, I used to visit London, I usually stuck to the hotels in the Knightsbridge area.
