OBAMA LIED - YOU CANNOT KEEP YOUR CURRENT COVERAGE

Post Master

Just got this notification from my employer.  So, if my wifes employer offers bare bones coverage thats expensive as hell, she can no longer be on my insurance.....

What are my working spouse’s options for coverage after this year?

If your spouse works and is eligible for coverage from his or her own employer—regardless of whether he or she is actually enrolled in that coverage—your spouse is not eligible to participate in The Benefits Plan beginning January 1, 2014.

Beam me up, Scotty, there's no intelligent life here......

Obama lied, and you're surprised.  Obamacare will be referred to as the Republican Restoration Act by future historians.  Republicans did a few boneheaded things.  However, after the full extent of damage done to the economy becomes known, Democrats will be climbing border fences.

Appears more like a company that is attempting to keep it its head above water faced with new higher costs.  If the employed spouse can obtain insurance thru their employer, they will not pay.  If the spouse is not employed, they will pay.  Progressives don't understand that companies, unlike governments do not have an unlimited source of revenue.

Bottom line that ol mikey can't seem to comprehend is if there was no Obama care, Captain T's wife would be able to stay on his plan.  Sorry mikey, we can't fix stupid.

what you fail to comprehend is very simple. did the company decide to do this, or were they forced to do it, under the AHA? can you answer that question? until you know that answer, insulting me is nothing more than immature BS.

This same scenario is repeated throughout the nation.  Much higher costs are usually quoted as the reason.  When one sees a phenomena repeatedly with the same cause, its reasonable to assume the same cause is the reason for similar phenomena.

No, Crash, you assumed that the cause of the increased cost involved the company desiring to increase their profits.  An assumption you made without proof.  OTH, I could call upon empirical data from numerous reports of changes in insurance costs because of severe cost increases.  I assume logic wasn't one of your favorite subjects.

Mounting number of companies stopping or severely limiting insurance isn't accounting babble, its an ongoing theme all over the nation.  Glad that the company isn't going under. OTH, are you certain that increased costs would not affect their operations.  Otherwise, wouldn't Cpt Kirk have commented upon that.

Crash, my husband is self-employed so we must purchase our own insurance. (no huge corporation).  Just got a letter this morning that due to the "Affordable Care Act" our policy was being cancelled as of September 30.  I know you can try to blame it on the big mean insurance company, but  Obama didn't give any caveats (limitations, stipulations, requirements), he just stated no one would lose their  coverage because of his act.  So YES OBAMA LIED!!!!

The ObamaCare law says that an employer must provided an "affordable plan" and that is defined as being less than 9% of the employees salary.  Nine percent is a heck of lot, and provides a huge leeway for the insurance companies.  Like most of us predicted, this abomination would cause people to lose their coverage, as is being seen here.  My guess is that 2014 will see even more uninsured than we had when this plan was put into effect.  This is what you get when you have nimrods who vote on something they have not read, and do not have a clue to what they are messing with when they do it.

At least some companies will be successful in their challenges.  I find it hard to believe that even in this current climate, that the SCOTUS could allow the government to force companies to provide something they have religious fault.  There is no way that a company or its owner should be tasked with providing access to abortion or to other things they find distasteful as part of an insurance coverage.  Hobby Lobby is already noted to be a well paying company that treats its employees well.  I for one hope they win their challenges.

Look for things like Concierge medicine.  I have seen a new model where a fellow doctor was looking was  new primary care provider.  He called around.  The first office told him they could work him in on November 13th, 5 months down the road.  The second office offered him their new program which asked for $1650 up front, which guaranteed the doctor's cell phone number, and a same day appointment with workup.  This office does not bill your insurance, they will provide the paperwork and let you do that yourself to reclaim your costs.

Welcome to the new healthcare system, it is going to be wonderful....

This will be a colossal boondagle as are most things run the by the federal gov't.

However, one thing you can be sure of is that ultra wealthy elite will not be impacted by this law in the least. People like John Kerry, Pelosi, Barack, Matt Damon, George Soros, etc... will still have access to doctors whenever and wherever they want because they will simply pay cash for what they need or the ultra rich communities will simply pool resources to have a neighboorhood doctor on call. It angers me that the people making the rules are never impacted by the consecquences of their decisions. Barack's family and Pelosi's family should be forced to endure the same wait times to see doctors that the  common masses that they claim to protect will have to endure. However, that will not be the case.

I send you their application, I am more than sure they would welcome your $600 a year membership fees to belong to an organization that not only does not recognize your needs but in most cases totally ignores them.

Unlike most of the morons I know who belong to such organizations, I refuse to support an organization with my money that acts in such a fashion.

Last time I checked only 10 percent of doctors belonged to the AMA.  Being rather intelligent, as a group, they recognize a useless organization when they see it.  To be fair, only 11.4 percent of US workers belong to unions, either.

I've read about the medical concierge practices.  Hope it doesn't come to this for all.  Thanks, Obama, once again!

Blame it on the almighty dollar - but Obamas UnAffordable Healthcare Act is enabling the practice and will further expand it.  Like i said, he outright lied about keeping your current insurance:

But experts say more firms are likely to drop spouses altogether, whether they work or not—especially when the new federal health-care exchanges open in 2014, providing an alternative for spouses left out in the cold. “When there’s a place for people to go, employers won’t feel as beholden or compelled to cover the spouse,” says Joan Smyth, an employee benefits consultant with Mercer.

If 100 percent of doctors belonged to the AMA this conversation would not be taking place. Doctors would be making the money and big-for profit hospitals wouldn't be forcing the gummit to provide OBAMA CARE. Like I said ack-like-da-foo and Uncle Sam will take it up.

The Walmart tactic, and other stores like it, are uping the hours a 'part-time' employee must work to be eligible for health care. As of Feb of 2012, you must average over 30 hours over 26 pay periods to be eligible for single person coverage. Spouses are not covered, dependents children under 19 are covered at extra cost. Since they now only hire part time or temp workers, they will not have to pay for very many employees.

A part time worker  is not eligible for:

dental. optional AD&D, life, dependent life, company paid life or disability coverage.

A  temp worker is not eligible for anything.

Part time workers can work 33.9 hours per week and still be classified as part time.

Even if you are lucky enough to qualify, the Walmart plan is very similar to Obama's bronze plan, with a $5000 deductible (for one person) and only 60% payout after that. Premiums are around $250 per pay check, deducted twice monthly. Considering you only make about $450 a paycheck, good luck with what is left.

Many doctors are dropping out of insurance altogether and going for a monthly fee or yearly fee. Several were on Mike Huckabee's program discussing their solutions. One charged a $50 per month fee that covered anything that could be done in the office. He did X-rays, EKGs, labs,  etc., all included in the $50 fee. Any number of visits were covered, even if you saw the guy 10 times a month.  Others did the same thing with a yearly fee of $2000 and even a family fee of about $3000. Considering that any of those would be a fraction of insurance premiums, no waiting times, all services covered, and see who you want; I think the doctors have figured out how to survive the Obamanation of Unaffordable Care.

Maybe the doctors are wising up. By-passing insurance can make the money they deserve. Join the AMA today and stick together. Should listen to me. If the docs can't figure it out the gummit will do it for them.

T, the gummit has been telling you how to practice medicine long before Obama. It’s not the patients fault doctors played right into the hands of big business, which includes but not limited to, insurance companies and large hospital groups.  I don’t know what to tell you to do but flying off a handle doesn’t look atall good on you doc. Now that's embarrassing.

Then please tell us HOW belonging to the AMA would do a practing physicina any good?  Enlighten us has to how an organization which has historically been run by those who have not a clue on the daily functioning of an office has ever been truly beneficial to the average physician/  The AMA got in bed with the federal government back in the late 90's and sided with Hillary and it costs them dearly.

In a burst of cynicism, I see that the requirement for medium to large businesses to provide insurance, or take the penalty is delayed until 2015 for 2014.   Excuse given by the administration is to give more time to let businesses become acquainted with the law.  Real reason -- fore stall even more Republicans in the House and Senate.  Probably the death knell for Hillary's chances for Presidency, though.  Republicans will hang the results around her neck like a horse collar.

YOu nailed it.  Like everyone has been saying, there was little to no thought that went into this plan.  the administration knows how detrimental it will be for businesses and the effects of that onslaught will be passed onto their employees and customers.  Anyone in their right mind will be able to blame it on the real cause, ie. Obama, which equates with the Dems and the Dems will pay for it in the long run.

More lefty lies exposed.

http://www.fool.com/retirement...or-those-who-al.aspx

Notice that over the past month, UnitedHealth Group and Aetna both said they would stop offering individual policies in California, forcing 58,000 existing policyholders to seek alternatives. When are you people on the left going to admit this is a bad thing for America?

Jobe,

When the real world doesn't agree with Progressive perceptions, they believe reality to be at fault. Once more, we see the results of left wing central planning in the guise of Obamacare.  Its a monstrosity,  even the authors now realize is a catastrophe -- a train wreck, they called it. More like the Titanic going down by the bow, breaking apart and dragging innocents along in its wake.
