Does anyone remember where the original Stephanoes Restaurant was located? I have a bet with a friend that it was originally located on Seminary but he says it was always at the Court St. location.

gl, it wouldn't happen to taste anything like Chicago pizza, would it? I recently took a trip to Chicago and ate the best pizza I've ever had in my life at Uno's. I've been craving it ever since. It was DEEP dish with a semi-thin crust & loaded. I ate one piece and was stuffed. All the ingredients, including spices and cheese, were fresh. It was delicious.
If not Stephano's, does anyone know if a restaurant in town or near here (Huntsville maybe) serves pizza like this?

There was one table that was up on a "landing", I wish I could think what it was called.

"Juliet's Balcony"

Way back in 1989, I had the best first date ever at the old Stephanos on Seminary. I loved the ambiance of the small room, the red and white checkered tablecloths and the wine bottles filled with dripping candles.

I was never disappointed in the food at the old Court Street location. The buffalo wings had the best sauce I've ever had. Anywhere. But their service in the later years killed them.
quote:p.s. LAWGRL, you're 100 percent right about that wing sauce! And it's such a simple recipe...
so, you wanna share it?quote:Originally posted by Tw0PenniesToYa:quote:p.s. LAWGRL, you're 100 percent right about that wing sauce! And it's such a simple recipe...
e-Isn't it, though? I use it at home .

Man I miss Stephanos!!! This just brings back a lot of good memories.
Viva Stephanos! haha
quote:Your right about the good memories. So many of mine start with "So we were hanging out at Stephano's and..."
Stephanos was there for a long time and changed a lot through the years. What years did you go the most?

e, I worked there in the early '90's. So many of my memories include "we got off work at Stephano's and headed to the Brass Lantern and..."

Yeah, a lot of things there remind me of Bob and Chris...
quote:Remember the little wooden "footstep" kind of stool, just one step, that was kept for years later next to or under the pizza area in the kitchen? Chris - God love his short self - was always standing on it so that he could reach all the way across the table. Somebody (can't remember who) eventually went and wrote "Quillen Booster" on the side of it.

I've always said that one of the best signs of Chris's persuasive abilities was the fact that neither Steve nor "Mr. Aubrey" could fire him. I remember him not showing up to work for a few days and then, upon being told he was fired, he threw his arm over Steve's shoulder and said, "You can't fire me, Steve. What would you do without me?" And he was right. And Steve didn't.
Shortly thereafter, he found himself at the hands of Mr. Aubrey, who was upset about the way that Chris "installed the trash liner." Chris smiled and said, "I'm so sorry. Would you show me how, please?" and later laughed that it was one less trash bag he had to "install" there.
