Overpass

I think it's a great idea myself. Of course it will cause some confusion and perhaps loss of business for some of them during construction but I really think it will be well worth it when it is done. With all progress comes some inconveniences in the beginning I suppose. Kinda comes with the territory. 

For small businesses this kind of project can be devastating.  Especially if you do it to them twice.

We need the overpass!!!!   Do those owners ever think, what if the emergency crew can't get to me or my family members due to a train being stopped!  

There are ambulance services and hospitals on both sides of the track.  It might not be the one you want to use but if it's a life or death situation, does it really matter. 

The widening of the road took care of 95% of the traffic problems.  An overpass is not needed. They are several ways to get around the area in an emergency and most times, a train passing through might hold you up 5 minutes.

The only way around it that I can think which would avoid any direct rr crosing is to go back , out Woodward over the tracks, then turn and work your way back over.  

BS!!!  We need overpasses on Avalon AND Montgomery. . There are really two better options: one is to re-route the tracks which would take somebody's land somewhere. Another option that I have never heard discussed is a "cut" where the street would bassically go straight, and the train track would be dug down to go under the road. IMHO, that would probably be the very best, but I realize we are not supposed to expect the very best in the Shoals area, hell they even built a brand new 6 lane road over the river and put a damm stop light on each end when on and off ramps would have served a lot better and probably been a lot cheaper.

Too much money and trouble to justify the loss to the businesses.

Not to mention, with NWSCC right at the intersection, it would play hell for the college kids.

too many hours and gallons of gasoline wasted to not do it.

I guess this area has never heard of access roads like other places have. People should travel to other places in the country and see that there really can be life without a stop light at each and every intersection, and  life can even persist  if we have overpasses. College kids can and will adapt to whatever any outcome there is.

I've driven around Decatur with it's service roads. Pure hell.

Life will go on with or without an overpass.
