I hope that this isn't too bad out of line, I guess the Mod can delete it if it is, anyway
I thought about my daddy telling me this. back in the 1960's you know around Christmas you could go to town and you couldn't stir people with a stick there were so many people in Town, well along about that time here in Russellville they had a thing going, for every dollar you spent they gave you a S.T.I.R ticket they had numbers on them and it had S.T.I.R on it, that meant Save Trade in Russellville, and Christmas eve they would have a drawing from these tickets and give away a new Car or Truck, of course the Ford dealer and Chevy dealer furnished the Vehicle that were to be given away, one Christmas eve I remember they got up there and called out the number and nobody said anything for about 20 minutes, boy they had them tickets sewed to paste board and every thing else and finally somebody hollered and it was the ford Dealer, he had won his own Truck, boy that crowd was upset to put it mildly,

another thing I want to tell you is about a trick an old man pulled on my daddy at one of those large gatherings, my dad was walking down the sidewalk and there was a lot of people just standing around waiting for the drawing and my dad said that he was walking along meeting this man and he said that when they were side by side that that fellow passed the most gas that he believed he had ever heard and said everybody heard it and he said then the man just stopped and turned around with a disgusted look on his face put both hands on his hips and just stood there and looked at him, in other words he put it off on my dad, I thought that was pretty good.

Say what you will, but the Ford Dealer and the Chevy Dealer both were good to more than support any worth while program that was going on in the city. Sports, Community and all others. Ford Dealer was probably the best though. That was a lot of fun back then.
