Not sure how many more, found this one. Of course if this woman is white she'll be judged "covering up for them", or as a racist herself. If she's black, they'll say she's being paid off.
SAVANNAH, GA – Caitlyn Williams, a former Paula Deen restaurant employee, is speaking out after days of media attention surrounding recent comments the celebrity chef made in her testimony related to a civil suit filed against Deen Enterprises, spotlighting Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers.
“Paula was good to me, Bubba was always good to me, there’s really no reason for it at all,” says Williams. “He was in there all the time, he and Mrs. Paula. I felt totally comfortable there, and not only did I work there but also at the store…they also had a Paula Deen store.”
Williams worked at Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House from 2010 to 2011. The restaurant is owned by Paula Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers. She says even though she worked there from five to six days a week at some points, she never experienced any type of discrimination in the restaurant.
Even though Williams was laid off in 2011 due to seasonal employment, she has strong feelings about the allegations.
“In my personal opinion, the employees that are saying that now are only trying to do it to hurt her more or him more, and get something out of it. That’s how I see it unfortunately. And I hate to call people out, but there’s not reason for it,” states Williams.
The 144 page deposition makes several references made by former restaurant manager Lisa Jackson outlining specific incidents of sexual harassment and racial discrimination at Uncle Bubba’s. It’s those allegations that have turned into a media firestorm for Deen, and Williams says she wanted to speak out.
“I mean he’d call me pretty lady when I’d walk into work, he’d say ‘good morning pretty lady’ and that’s as far as it would ever go, and I never considered it harassment of any sort,” says Williams.
And when it came to allegations of racial discrimination, Williams says, “I’ve never personally heard it. I mean if someone else did then that’s their opinion and that’s their point of view but I have never been in that situation.”
Williams said she cannot speak for others, but wanted to share her experience.
