I read both the complaint and the deposition. I like to read all the evidence being presented before I give my opinion whenever possible. Based on both, my opinion is that she and her brother are at the very least racist. Not because she said the N word once a very long time ago either.

___

Black employees at Paula's restaurant were not allowed to come in the front door; white employees were allowed to.   That should at least suggest something, for starters. There is just a lot in the complaint and the deposition that will make it hard for anyone to draw any  conclusion other than  that Paula and her horrid brother are racists.

They were also not allowed to go to the same bathroom as the white employees.

Told me what? That you are incapable of reading the two documents before giving your uninformed opinion? Then yes...you told me.

Now fans are coming to Paula's side.

Paula Deen is no different than most southern people.  She's from Albany, GA, and believe me that she grew up around many African Americans.

My problem with Ms. Deen is that she's too full of personality, she often gets unreasonably vulgar in her cooking demonstrations and she's been known to perform after partaking of too many alcoholic beverages.

Did anyone watch Paula Deen on the Today Show this morning? She cried but there were no tears to be seen.

I found it odd that she said she didn't know if the N-Word was offensive, but she regretting saying it. If she didn't know if it was offensive, what did she apologize for?

You could tell she doesn't have a hair & make-up stylist anymore. She looked like hell.

Agreed. Weiner did it a couple of years ago.  Deen did it a couple of decades ago.

Either you guys refuse to read her deposition, or you have read it and still keep promoting falsehoods. Her and her brothers racism is not decades old, unless you want to say they have been racist for decades.

I can't help but wonder how many minorities actually watch The Food Network.  The FNW's decision was pure 'marketing stragegy' based on liberalism's 'let no good scandal go to waste' philosophey.

"Forget Paula Deen. There are far more dangerous bigots and poisonous haters spoiling the American landscape. They cook up violent rhetoric and murderous plots against our troops, our citizens and our allies 24/7. And they have direct access to the White House".

I like what the poster at the bottom said:

"The white house is now an armed fortress, only those invited can enter.  Guess who's invited?  It is not the American public".

Not sure how many more, found this one. Of course if this woman is white she'll be judged "covering up for them", or as a racist herself. If she's black, they'll say she's being paid off.

SAVANNAH, GA – Caitlyn Williams, a former Paula Deen restaurant employee, is speaking out after days of media attention surrounding recent comments the celebrity chef made in her testimony related to a civil suit filed against Deen Enterprises, spotlighting Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers.

“Paula was good to me, Bubba was always good to me, there’s really no reason for it at all,” says Williams. “He was in there all the time, he and Mrs. Paula. I felt totally comfortable there, and not only did I work there but also at the store…they also had a Paula Deen store.”

Williams worked at Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House from 2010 to 2011. The restaurant is owned by Paula Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers. She says even though she worked there from five to six days a week at some points, she never experienced any type of discrimination in the restaurant.

Even though Williams was laid off in 2011 due to seasonal employment, she has strong feelings about the allegations.

“In my personal opinion, the employees that are saying that now are only trying to do it to hurt her more or him more, and get something out of it. That’s how I see it unfortunately. And I hate to call people out, but there’s not reason for it,” states Williams.

The 144 page deposition makes several references made by former restaurant manager Lisa Jackson outlining specific incidents of sexual harassment and racial discrimination at Uncle Bubba’s. It’s those allegations that have turned into a media firestorm for Deen, and Williams says she wanted to speak out.

“I mean he’d call me pretty lady when I’d walk into work, he’d say ‘good morning pretty lady’ and that’s as far as it would ever go, and I never considered it harassment of any sort,” says Williams.

And when it came to allegations of racial discrimination, Williams says, “I’ve never personally heard it. I mean if someone else did then that’s their opinion and that’s their point of view but I have never been in that situation.”

Williams said she cannot speak for others, but wanted to share her experience.

Like I said earlier, there are two sides to the story.  Most of the people looking for a reason will find the plaintiff side to be more plausible, which I find disgusting, since one should be considered innocent until proven guilty.  Deen and her brother both ran successful restaurants and there is no doubt they would be a target for this type of shakedown. If the people working there felt intimidated they were not being forced to work there.  Why now after all these years? The answer...money....and the hope that this would have been settled out of court for a large sum to make it all go away.

The lines to get into Deen's restaurant in Savannah can be hours long. Busloads of people flock there to eat.  She was an easy target.

Good luck finding a jury of people in Georgia, black or white, who can "honestly" say they had never used a derogatory slang term.

Guy Fieri guilty of sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic behavior, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives creator says

The creator and former producer of Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, which stars Next Food Network Star winner Guy Fieri, says the star of his show is guilty of homophobic, sexist, and anti-Semitic behavior.

Producer David Page, who created the show, sued the network for breach of contract earlier this year because he says the network tried to replace him and cancelled orders for two seasons of the show. After filing a countersuit in which Food Network said Page violated his contract and mistreated staff (sending e.mail messages that said things such as, “I hope you die so I can dance on your ******** grave&rdquo, the lawsuit was settled in August. Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is now produced by Denver-based Citizen Pictures.

Now, Page is criticizing Fieri and detailing his behavior. As OC weekly notes, “These allegations feel like revenge over a lost lawsuit from an equally giant tool that lost control of his show and his star.”

But at least one other producer does back up some of Page’s claims, which are detailed in a fascinating in-depth profile of Page in City Pages.

First, the two men can be complimentary toward one another. Fieri calls Page “a true TV visionary” in his book Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and Page said Fieri “has probably the most natural talent of any performer I’ve ever worked with.” But Page says that when Guy started filming Minute to Win It, he started canceling shoots for the Food Network series. “Almost everyone who becomes a star in television develops an abnormal sense of self. In the worst-case scenario, they become surrounded by sycophants who tell them everything they want to hear,” he told the paper.

Page said that Guy made sexist comments about women (“When cutting the show, you had to tell the editors to watch Guy’s eye line, because it’s always on *******.&rdquo and also was freaked out by gay people. At one shoot, Page says, “Guy had decided that the two men running the restaurant were life partners. He said, ‘You can’t send me to talk to gay people without warning! Those people weird me out!’”

The paper reports that “Former field producer Kari Kloster confirms that Fieri made the odd demand about gay guests, and says she witnessed the star become more controlling on set,” and that after the incident Page described, “show researchers were required to note any indications of homosexuality detected during pre-interviews.”

The paper also details a dispute over profit from books related to the show, and Page said for a second book, Fieri wanted material for the book from producers. Page said, “They were demanding tremendous research from my people, and pictures, but they didn’t want to pay for them. Guy said to me: ‘You know, it’s true: Jews are cheap.’

 But yet,

Guy's going like a house on fire with his hit Food Network shows: Guy's Big Bite and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

I couldn't care less about deen, never cared for her, but this is all BS. They're after her like a pack of wolves, and while they chase her they let other things go by. Where's the thread about alec baldwin's "twitter rant" about gays?

Her accuser didn't have any problems with deen when she was getting jobs from her. Now that she's in the "hole" to the tune of $64,000.00 to the IRS for back taxes she suddenly wants to "out" deen as a racist? Their employees didn't call them on their actions? What black person is going to work for someone that tells them they have to use a separate bathroom because they're black, or stand still for what they consider an insulting/racist remark?  And don't give me that, "it was different back then" because it wasn't.

Let the liberals that have NEVER uttered a racist comment or joke cast the first 'stone'.  Otherwise, they need to keep their freakin' mouths shut!

There may not be a thread here on Baldwin's anti-gay slurs, but I read a commentary (yep, offered a value judgment) yesterday on one of those local news sites you don't read.

There are other employees that have come forward. There is a man that said Paula paid him and other employees with alcohol (even though he doesn't drink) and when he complained he was fired. He tried to fight it but lost. Lisa Jackson filed complaints several times while she was employed by Paula Deen. The company didn't have an HR dept at the time so the only person she could take her complaints to was part of the Deen "family". A man that had been friends with Paula and her Brother for decades. Supposedly (and Deen admits to it in her deposition) that he took the complaints to Paula but she chose to do nothing.

The reason people stay at jobs where they are being abused is obvious. They need the job. There have been 2 times in my life that I put up with things I wish now I had not. However, at the time I had a family to help support and I could not risk losing my income. Anybody that doesn't understand that has probably never been in that situation. Not everyone has been so lucky to be able to walk away from work because they didn't like the work environment.

The complaints against Paula and her brother go beyond racism. Sexual harassment is really one of the biggest issues in the complaint. Bubba Hiers has admitted that he did show female employees **** on his computer and he sent female employees ****ographic emails. Paula knew about it to. Yet, neither of them understand why that was so wrong. Well, I guess they are learning the hard way what most everyone else with any class or morals knew. You can't do that. Its not right or acceptable to display **** or tell sexual jokes in the work place.

Also, why are so many people willing to ignore the fact that she (admittedly) wanted to have all black men dressed in white jackets and bow ties serve at her brothers wedding. She wanted him to have a "plantation style wedding" and even made the statement in her deposition that she wanted it to be reminiscent of "pre-civil war south" HELLO! In other words she wanted these men to give the impression of being slaves. She knew it was wrong because she also said the reason she didn't do it was because she knew the media would tear her apart for it. She understood that it was racist and the only thing that stopped her was the fear of the public finding out. Well, now we all know what she is. The public has found out.

I don't disagree that most everyone has said racist things in their life. Paula chose to be a public figure. She has put herself out there and wants to be in the lime light. When you do that then you are not only praised publicly you're also ridiculed publicly.

I am surprised by many of you that always stand up for big corporation, that make decisions based solely on what is most profitable for them, are now upset that they are looking out for their own best interest concerning being associated with Paula. What changed? Many of you are upset that Paula has been "treated unfairly" in your opinion by these companies, yet you don't seem to care one bit about how her own company treated its employees unfairly.

As for Alec Baldwin... I have not watched anything with him in it since he called his 12 year old daughter a pig. I can't stand the guy. I would love to see him treated as the piece of crap that he is and scraped off the bottom of societies shoe.

To say no one is in an uproar over his statement is a lie. It is all over the news and I am sure it will not end anytime soon.

Talk about clueless, if you want an old fashion wedding, hire some white guys to dress in livery and wing it.  Using blacks for such is just dumb.

I seriously don't understand why anyone would want to be associated with Alec Baldwin. I hope Capital One drops him.

There are plenty of actors that have been shunned for using racist language or anti-gay slurs. Mel Gibson to name one. Issiah Washington was fired from the show Grey's Anatomy. Paula is not alone, she is just the biggest cry baby.

Me too you two, I care nothing about Paula Dee, but if they would drag

out from under the rocks every minority with their continuous  racial
slurs then that would be the end of Rap. And also the end of other

crap riding under the protective cover of liberal white guilt.

It should work both ways.
