If you can't fly, you shouldn't be able to buy a gun.

I agree - during the time suspects are on the no fly, no buy. Same apples to the terrorist watch list.
But what happens, such as in Mateen's case when he is taken off the terrorist watch list? What happens when someone is taken off the no-fly list. It's not like when one get on the Sexual Predator list and stays forever. One of you liberals out there schooled in due process, explain it.
By requirements of current law, they could have nailed him had his former / ex-wife nailed him with domestic assault.
That would have stopped him from legally buying a weapon. But all MSM outlets to date have missed that. As have all liberal gun control authorities.
PS really liked the gun shop owners explanation of how Mateen got his gun. CNN ran it end-to-end and then cherry picked it from then on. Basically, the owner told the news media to STFU.

This excerpt does not carry the line when the owner was asked about body armor.
Sadly, both liberals and conservatives alike will have to surf the web to get the entire content of this single news event.
One talking head said certain questions asked on the form [ATF 4473, folks, been around a while] were not enforceable especially due to the status of the applicants mental health. Gee, I wonder what current forum member has been preaching that longer than Bill Gray has been an evangelist?

Instead of holding his wife partially responsible and charging her as an accessory as they should, the left will hold her up as a victim and oooh and ahhh over her. She'll be the darling of the lefty media and all the olds hens' such as Oprah's talk shows.

The ones using brooms to fly don't play fair. I ain't saying nothing.

The problem with extending the no fly list to not buying firearms is that a bureaucrat may place one's name on it with no recourse. The government won't tell you why you are on it and it takes expensive court battles to remove one. As its a civil right to own firearms, this is not acceptable.
If it takes over 72 hours, do you get the gun anyway?
I believe even the lefty news-rag Time has figured out the problem of using the No-Fly List; it might be unconstitutional:
http://time.com/4146025/guns-n...y-list-constitution/
I believe even the ACLU has stated that fact:
“We are opposed to the use of terror watch lists, as presently constituted, to screen gun purchases,” said ACLU National Security Project Director Hina Shamsi. “We believe the lists are deeply flawed.”

That would depend on the outcome of the background check.
Seems to me if the FBI receives information that someone presently or formally on their watch list was applying to purchase a gun, that would raise red flags to at least revisit the investigation. I think Mateen knowingly acted quickly after submitting background checks / purchasing the firearms before bureaucracy wheels could roll. Why don't they merge the ATF with the FBI?

If you're white, NO.
In response to the murderous jehadi in Orlando, Obama wants to limit our access to weapons of self protection, guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. Then, allow tens of thousands more with Omar's views in! As usual, the man has it bassacwards.
Unless there is some due process mechanism to place people on such lists, It's best to leave things as they are. If we leave things in the hands of political hacks like IRS Commissioner Koskinen with undefined rules, just being conservative might get one placed on the ****-list.

My thinking exactly. Mr soso why you need 1000 rounds of ammo? Did you post this remark about Illegal immigration, taxes, etc ? We then judge you to be mentally incapable of owing a gun.
It's called the "Bill of Rights", not the "Bill of Needs". Start messing with a liberal's "rights" and see what happens.
I guess the Brit's will need a no-fly list:
