"Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let’s try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well."

Here's what I have a problem with, well, other than the obvious(this man trying to take other lives with his own, the selfish bastard). You pay taxes, I pay taxes, we all pay taxes. We document all our income or face audits and fines. This guy admittedly didn't report his wifes income of almost 13K or that he cashed out some retirement money (unknown amount) and figured he didn't have to file a return because HE DIDN'T WORK that particular year. WTH??? This is a guy with college degrees who has also taken courses on tax rules. WHY didn't he file the darn return? So, how many people are going to be dead after they finally get to search the building because of this moron? MadMadMad

forrum,
One problem is that not everyone does pay taxes, and there is a huge disparity in the percentage that each pays. I read his manifesto, and I agree that this guy got caught up in a lie where he was convinced that he did not have to pay taxes, and it cost him lots of money. I can also understand his problem, espcecially with the CPA. The tax code should not be so complicated that the normal taxpayer cannot understand what they are asking. I have been to graduate school and there are still items on the form that baffle me. So I go to the CPA and pluck down my money and try to provide to them what they are asking for, and he comes back and tells me how much more I owe. Now if there is an error, he is supposed to represent me in the audit, BUT you can bet your sweet patootie that he is going to say he only had what was provided to him for the return. hell, if the average taxpayer knew what they were asking, they could do it themselve. This is ridiculous and it is only getting worse. The tax code in this country needs to be a fair tax code whereby the consumer pays for their usage. That stops all of these crooks and prostitutes who make all of their money illegally and never claim it, from not apying taxes.
Too bad this individual decided to do what he did, but I can see how he got to this situation. he was intelligent, and he obviously worked hard, but the system does not reward hard work, actually if anything it does just the opposite.
This guy was selfish. He owned a house worth over $230,000 and had his own plane. Doesn't sound to me like he was hurting financially like a lot of Americans are. Sound like he was living a good life. I guess he wanted more and didn't want to pay taxes like we all do. He must have been special (in his own eyes)I would be happy to have a nice house like that and have my own plane.
He owed how much in back taxes? If I read right somewhere it was over 100K, I dont think Ive paid that much in taxes my entire life. Id say he was doing pretty well, plane and all, whether he owed on his house or not.

How selfish of him to leave his wife and daughter homeless and husbandless/fatherless like he did. Sounds like he had a 'better than everyone else' complex to me.

His plane was a Cherokee 140 and they cost less than the average new car.

I read the entire manifesto, this guy thought the entire world was out to get him. Things happen to most people, how you react to them usually dictates the next step in your life. If you let the negativity from a problem in your life eat at you, you carry that to your next job / relationship, eventually destroying yourself there as well, further increasing your negativity. If you react positively to negative situations, look for the good in it when possible, then you allow yourself to see future opportunities instead of past failures. And folks around you take notice as well.

If we all learn something from this, it needs to be this: Let things go and always look for the good in a situation whenever possible.
A lot of people are tired of the way this country is going. Our tax money being thrown to the wind. I know he was upset with alot of our government and felt this would help. It didn't. It's not going to change anything but more tax dollars to set up a committee to look into it and all that crap associated with what he did. Our economy has driven folks to do things they never thought in their lives they would do or lower themselves to do but killing the innocent guy just doing what our stupid government tells him to do in the IRS office won't fix a thing. I read today where most federal government workers are behind in their tax payments and it's in the billions that they owe. Wish they would tell us how to do that. I'm for the flat tax.
Oh, I agree guys, if you do have a good paying job, and good credit you can own a nice house and even a plane that cost about what a car does. My point was that in his "manifesto" he made it sound like he had nothing and never had anything his whole life because of the IRS. Don't get me wrong, I am not the biggest fan of the IRS and don't agree with all the taxes. But come on the IRS doesn't come after you unless you send up red flags or do something wrong. Just my observations. Oh and thanks for the info about the plane HIFLYER.

Actually it was a Piper 235 but you are correct one can be bought for the price of some new cars. Most owners of light single engine aircraft are middle class, middle income wage earners.

Owning an aircraft is within the reach of the middle class if you do not have a lot of other expensive hobbies. It's no more expensive than owning a quality bass boat and new pickup.

General aviation (GA) not the airlines is the father of aviation. Remember the Wright brothers were not rich just hard working inventors.

I'm pleased to see that the method this person used to plan his attack is not being blamed for his actions, General Aviation employs many hard working Americans.
