Publix Coming to Muscle Shoals

Colbert Tourism posted on their Facebook page that Publix is going to be built on the corner of Sixth Street & Woodward Avenue in Muscle Shoals. Article said corner but it’s not exactly on the corner.

The lot where Highland Park Baptist Church is was purchased but the church is going to be torn down. I’d hate to guess how much it was sold for but I guess the church needs the money to pay some of those law suits. Be funny if they end up losing the new mansion church they built due to all the law suits that will be coming against them.

Chick:  Your smart aleck comments about a church is indeed unfortunate.  I'm just sorry you posted it with a serious heading.

 

If Publix is going into 6th and Woodward, they're making a mistake.  They'd do better if they'd go into Avalon and Woodward.  Much better traffic patterns there.

I'm surprised to see Florence Publix doing so well.  They're far from the cheapest grocery out there, especially in meats, produce and bakery.  But they've got what's needed.

"[F]ar from the cheapest" does not do justice to the price differences often encountered at Publix.

Their meat and seafood prices are often so much higher than those of their competitors as to make on o=wonder whether shoppers at Publix ever bother to compare prices.  I go to Publix for the "buy one get one free" deals and that's about it.  For example, when you can buy pork tenderloin elsewhere for half of Publix's price, why waste your money at Publix?  Publix's price for blue mussels also is about twice what Walmart charges, with no discernible difference in quality. I could cite many other examples.

What's smart aleck about the comment? It's true. Why would anyone take up for that church? They covered up and protected a child molester for weeks, and should have the h*** sued out of them, a few ought to be arrested, and one should have her *** kicked by the parents and then be arrested and sued. Freaking hypocrites, the whole lot of them. They'll be OK semi. Apparently they have millions of that good old tax exempt money to put into their building. Now, as for Publix,  I love them. I've never had to take rotten meat back to Publix like I have Walmart and Winn Dixie when it was here. Chicken mostly, and once corned beef,  and tossed some suspicious smelling pork chops one time. I have been told it is OK to bring it back, that it happens all the time, and to always feel free to do so with the receipt.

What was smart aleck about it? Why unfortunate? What I said is the truth. What's unfortunate is that the Pastor of that church kept quiet for almost 3 weeks about the child molester he was protecting.

 

The "serious heading" & the comments I made about the church go hand in hand. Starting out, the church wasn't going to be sold, it was going to be used for "other activities", whatever they were. Then when they saw there were to be other lawsuits coming forth, they decided to sell.

 

If enough lawsuits get filed, could they not possibly lose the new mansion church? If a large fancy house can be called a mansion, why can't a large, fancy church be referred as the same?

It does not speak well of a person that takes up for a church full of people that didn't demand punishment for the ones in their church that protected a child molester. It is not guilty by association, it is guilty by non-action, and to pretend to be upset without calling for accountability for the ones that covered it up does indeed make them hypocrites. Apparently that 'one' isn't paying attention, he let it happen in a church. How stupid to tell people they can't have justice until they or the perpetrators die and stand in judgment.  If someone molests a child in your family, or does anything else to you or yours, are you going to look the other way and say 'they'll get theirs'? Not me. There are people that don't believe in that one that you say is the only one that can mete out justice, and I am one of those. There are laws in this country for a reason, and when they are broken the guilty are supposed to be punished, and I expect it to be done now, not after someone dies.

Where did I say all of them were hypocrites? I have several family members in that church & there's a bunch of people in that church that doesn't believe Eddie did what he's in prison for. They were convinced of that from the Pulpit.

Stinking Atheist? (notice the correct spelling) I'm not establishing any standard for Christians, I was going by what the Bible says. You've evidently never read it or don't believe it, possibly just playing Christian, & that's why your heart is rotten. That Bible tells of the standards a Christian should live by, not me. Maybe you think God believes it to be ok to call people names?

The lie that I quoted above my post. The same lie that she spouted when this tragedy was discovered. The garbage that the pastor at HPBC ever once defended Jeff Eddie from the pulpit (or anywhere else for that matter), or that he tried to protect Eddie from being discovered and/or prosecuted.

JDawg goes to that church & back when Eddie was arrested & we were discussing it on here, he accused you & I of lying about some of the things we were saying that was in the paper & reported on TV. He believes I'm still lying, that the pastor is a man with a Christian heart of gold that did nothing to protect Eddie..

And just what are the preacher's views on Eddie? Do you really know? Have you spoken to him? Asked him for yourself? Heard what he had to say "from the pulpit"?

 

Of course not. You come here, and slander a pastor behind the anonymity of a computer screen, alleging things you "heard people in the church say". I think we both know how that sounds. I would invite you to come to HPBC tomorrow. Be our guest, and see things for yourself. I'm certain the pastor would be happy to talk with you.

JDawg goes to that church & back when Eddie was arrested & we were discussing it on here, he accused you & I of lying about some of the things we were saying that was in the paper & reported on TV. He believes I'm still lying, that the pastor is a man with a Christian heart of gold that did nothing to protect Eddie..

I never accused you of lying about anything in the paper, or on TV. I did, however, ask you for some sources, or some proof of things you were alleging, that were complete fabrications. Of course, that never came. Just lots of "I heard about" and "I know a guy"...

J, I haven't spouted any lies and/or garbage. Why would the people that go to that church say those things if they were lies? I happen to believe them because they had no reason to lie. They like the Pastor & believe the man pee's gold. It was being discussed, not to put him down, but because they just couldn't understand why he would defend Eddie.

I'll say the same thing I said in the other discussion. You wouldn't believe it if God Himself walked up & slapped you with the truth. You're one of those that would defend that Pastor come hell or high water. I'm not trying to be rude or ugly, just speaking what I believe just as you are.

I barely remember most of it, but I do vaguely remember my post about the woman seeing the improper behavior and the church not reporting it immediately was challenged. I produced the place in the article where it was reported they waited almost 2 weeks. Seems like I remember all the claims being backed up, even something about the church asking for donations? They waited all that time after seeing/being informed of improper behavior, giving him even more time to molest the child, and didn't even bother to notify the parents. When the woman saw it she didn't bother to step into the room and remove the child. They took that time to cover their a**** I'm sure. The woman that didn't remove the child is the woman I would slap stupid if I was the child's parent, then sue her a** and demand she be arrested. Why wasn't that done?

Again, as I've said before. I KNOW what has been said from the pulpit regarding Jeff Eddie. I know, because I've been there. You haven't. This makes me infinitely more qualified to speak on this particular situation than you. I'm not relying on second or third hand information.

 

You do understand that there's a reason hearsay is inadmissible in courts, right? People talk. Often, people talk without knowing what they're talking about. Very often, people just make stuff up. Good grief, this thread alone is full of that. As I've said, come visit HPBC. Check it out for yourself.

Best, I do remember that & it's exactly as you stated. He didn't believe us then either.
 

J, you accused Best & I of lying about the Pastor asking anyone for donations to help the families of the victims. Even after we showed you the link & what it said, you still didn’t believe the Pastor was asking for donations.

 

You also said back at that time that there was nothing but vague allegations & unsubstantiated accusations, but no factual evidence. You said it was only a rumor of the janitor being fired for reporting Eddie to the Pastor, that it was just smoke-filled coffee house gossip. You were shown news links about that too, but still made excuses.

 

As far as visiting that church, that would be the last church I would want to visit. I happen to believe those people that go to church there & the discussions I've heard between two of the women & one of their husband's. I don't understand why they continued going to church there, but as I said they believe that Pastor to pee gold, & that he made mistakes where Eddie was concerned.

We've rehashed this & it's going no where. You believe the man to be a saint & nothing anyone says will convince you otherwise. That's what's wrong with a lot of people in church these days. They worship the Pastor & give no thought to the one they should be worshipping. I find that very sad, & would be very worried if I were those people.

Highland Park put the following statement on their website:

As a church, we are outraged, shocked and deeply saddened by the events that have unfolded over the last few days. First and foremost, we are striving to assist any children and families that have been affected by these events. The health and well being of these children is our number one priority at this time. For years, Highland Park Baptist Church has invested in the Shoals community and we are committed to helping our entire community cope with this situation. Anyone with any information about this case should immediately contact the Muscle Shoals Police Department. Any children or families in search of counseling may contact our church office for assistance. In closing, we want to personally thank every person that has come forward. They are heroes and should be treated as such.

Too bad the “health and well-being of these children” wasn’t evident when they first heard reports of Jeffrey Dale Eddie sexually molesting church children. Whose health and well-being did they put first?
