Best: Semi didn't say it was copy and paste until someone called her on it. It's called admitting guilt after one's hand has been caught in the cookie jar.

Yet, it was well before your post, which made your post just an unnecessary jab at her.

I may not agree with Mr. Evans' sentiments, but I certainly am opposed to people stealing from him.

That's funny coming from you.

Thank you, Pup, for the compliment, but no, I didn’t write the topic. I didn’t think anyone might think I did. I made a topic of it because I agree with most of it, and yes, I did read it before I put it on here. And I found some of it to be comical. Never thought some of you might get your panties in a wad over it. But with you & a couple more on here, always ready to kill over Politics, I should have known you wouldn’t see the fun side of it. You should relax, not take life so seriously. You want me to write, in some of my own words what I believe?

These woman that kill/abuse their children? Those that let the boyfriend rape their babies? Give the idiots a tubal ligation. Those women that have babies for a bigger government check so she & her baby daddies can lay around & do nothing, give her the Norplant birth control implant. Give the men a vasectomy. Test these people for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If they want to reproduce that badly, want to use drugs, alcohol, and/or smoke, then they can get off their azz & get a job.

I guess the term Lone Star is something the Texan’s like to use but it’s still a food stamp card. Just dresses it up a lil bit. If you want a Ding Dong, a Ho Ho, a steak, frozen pizza, a bottle of wine, cigarette’s or any other kind of luxuries, get a job. Use a food stamp card for the necessities to feed your family, beans, eggs, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away.  If you want to equip your gov’t home with a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and buy your own place.

No food in the house to feed your children? Sell those 22 inch rims, low profile tires, those blasting stereo & speakers, etc. and go to the grocery store.

If you’re on welfare, do your part to help until something better comes along. Clean the roadways, paint & repair the public housing you live in.

If our soldiers have to live in military barracks with just the minimum basic necessities, shouldn’t people on welfare have to do the same thing? Are our soldiers not more important than those people that want things handed to them & to lazy to work? Those are the people I’m referring to. Not those that are trying, that possibly lost a job, down on their luck & need some temporary help.

If you believe these things are "demeaning" and ruins their "self esteem,", move them in with you. Let them eat your food & live off you. And yes, I agree that those on welfare that are able to work, should lose their right to vote.

No, this is not something most of you will agree with. You have your beliefs, I have mine. I don’t get angry because you don’t believe as I do. Yes, I am a Republican & I don’t hate you because you’re a Democrat. I have family/friends that are Democrats, but I lov’em anyway.

Yep, some of this I copied & pasted again because I agree with it. Why should I re-write it when it’s already there, in black & white?

I don't know who said the part about "one's hand has been caught in the cookie jar" but I have an idea. I have a couple of people on block because they make dumb ass post like that one. Does it matter to me? No, just have to feel sorry for them because their mental capacity to reason is out of order.

It's amazing to me that so many people copy & paste but get their panties in a wad because I did it. It's so easy to tell when someone does copy/paste something, that I had no idea it should always be "admitted to". As though it were wrong. Weird!!

Yeah.  That was my "like" only because "hell yes" wasn't an option.

Is this OK with the "you're a hater" group? He has nine children and one on the way with the woman suing him. He doesn't support them, can't remember the last time he worked, and he's managed to get on SS for some lame reason.

Or her? On assistance and spends thousands on designer sunglasses, and says they are her weakness.

Just what part of "stealing," don't you understand? Copy and paste without attribution is wrong. Period. And if you copy and paste from a site that's designed to make money, you can be sued...for a lot of money. That goes for photographs as well.

But don't worry, I posted the name of the author of the piece you copied and posted. I didn't want him to think we in Alabama don't understand the basic laws of copyright infringement.

And...just think, if the writer makes all his income from his written work, and everyone steals from him, he just might wind up on foodstamps. Sad.

I know but isn't it amazing that some of these people are acting like copying & pasting something is a crime when we've seen them do it time & again?

I've seen some others beside Semi do it; however, most don't. I have never, at least without attribution, and then only a short quote...that is universally agreed to be exempt from the law.

I think the author would realize someone, somewhere, would copy/paste it, send it around, drop off his name by accident, thus not giving him credit. It's not like it is some profound piece of literature. All the time someone, somewhere, writes a joke and that joke is read, repeated, even written in emails, without giving the one that wrote the joke any credit. I think he'd be more inclined to wonder why you are making such a big deal out of it. Again, funny coming from you

This thing has been all over FaceBook, which is where I got it. It's been making the rounds for the last three weeks.

I can only imagine who is making a big deal out of it. She needs to get a life or keep her writing to her blog[s].

I'm not the first one to comment on what you copied and pasted. Second, I have no blogs, but I'm tempted to start one listing examples of plagiarism. Third, for Bud, both my husband and I work full time. Our two children work part time and go to school. None of us receives food stamps, but if we needed them, we wouldn't be ashamed to sign up for them. We've paid into the system. The trouble with arguments like Semi copied and pasted is that they lump everyone together. It just doesn't work that way.

As for Facebook, I haven't seen it there, Semi, but I imagine my friends are both more literate and compassionate than friends of many who post here.

And on that we agree Kate.  I've been in positions when I was in my 20's, married with a child, that I probably qualified for food stamps as well.  But instead of applying for them, I applied for a second job instead.  I would have been ashamed to do otherwise.

Yes, you are right that all shouldn't be lumped together, but to be a middle-aged DINK family with no disabilities?  I can understand suffering a temporary setback and applying and accepting whatever aid was available such as an ambush plant closing at IP or having a permanent disability which prevents you from working, but making a culture out of it?

THAT is what we're talking about here.  Not a lump sum.  And I think most folks get that.

Edited to read:  I have a couple of buddies, married, 2 children, who have gone through 2 plant closings.  Within weeks if not days, they found temporary jobs washing trucks and running wire until they could find better jobs which they have.  So please spare me the grief about no jobs being available for those who have skills.  And responsibilities to others than themselves.

And PS.  I have had at least 2 jobs all my working life till I retired and I still work.

bud, I have no idea what Fire Kate said to you,  but you, your buddies, & other men like you are what make me proud to be an American & proud of our Military. High five to you & your buddies!!

It's a shame that in this day & time more people expect those handouts, then getting out there, finding work & being responsible. You got what I was saying, & realized I wasn't trying to cause a problem with this topic. Some people live to cause problems/trouble.

I think you're a good man & I'm proud to consider you my friend! Probably best to just let this topic die.

Judge Mathis-right now, 23 year old non-working woman suing her cousin for four thousand dollars she loaned her. Where did she get thousands of dollars to loan her the judge asks, because she doesn't work and she's only 23. Well, "I take care of my nephew (not disabled) and "they" (government) give me lots of money for that". Both of them dressed to the nines, nails and hair done, yet one has thousands to loan and the other claims she needed the loan. Must have been a sale at neiman marcus.

Oh and Kate, just because you have put something in the "system" thinking you're entitled to get something out, I figure you're some ways away from Medicare, but when you get there, providing its in the same shape it is now, the government will recognize your hard work and corresponding income by rewarding you with a surcharge, in my case 33%, for which you will get ZERO benefits.

This surcharge is for those who deserve health care benefits yet cannot afford them.  I have no problem with the way it is intended.  My faith and fraternity have a long history of being compassionate towards those in real need.

The people who denigrate the abilities of those with military service have no idea of the responsibilities the military places on very young people -- after training and guidance, of course.  The M1 tank costs many million of dollars, has complicated advanced electronics and Is, of course, a very lethal piece of machinery. Yet, are commanded by people in their early twenties. My experience was with the finance corps, when computers were rare and the size of a large room. As a SP5, I had to oversee hundred of thousands of dollars -- in military script, real dollars and Viet Namese currency. while holding down a position of platoon sergeant -- yes, SPs were not supposed to be NCOs, but war makes exceptions.

Thank you for your service.

Over the past few years, EBT has been used for some “questionable” items. Here are 11 questionable items that you can (or will soon be able to) purchase with an EBT card.

  1. Quesarito:Taco Bell is one of many fast food restaurants that accept EBT cards. Guacamole is extra? Who cares? It’s on the taxpayer.
  2.  Bail: Convicted felons – like drug dealer Kimball Clark – have reportedly used their EBT as bail money. Clark reportedly instructed someone to go to an ATM to withdraw money from his EBT for bail. Because it’s difficult to trace ATM abuse, many speculate this problem is more widespread and not just found in isolated incidents.
  3. Lingerie: Kiss My Lingerie, an adult store in Gonzales, Louisiana, accepts EBT. Other adult stores have also been known to accept welfare transactions. In this case, officials said the store doesn’t violate the rules for EBT because of discrepancies in the law.
  4. KFC: Well, chicken is a protein, and protein is good for you, right? KFC is another well-known fast food chain that accepts EBT.
  5. Shoes: While Payless ShoeSource is known for their BOGO sales, they’re certainly not the cheapest place to buy shoes. Despite the prices and functionality, they also accept EBT.
  6. Strip clubs: Last year, the New York Post reported that FOIA requests revealed welfare recipients were regularly making EBT withdrawals at the ATMs near and inside infamous **** shops, liquor stores, lounges and hookah parlors. Technically, it also doesn’t break the law because of the “cash assistance program.”
  7. Lobster: There have been multiple cases of this. As long as it’s not tobacco or alcohol, you’re golden.
  8. Starbucks: While corporate stores don’t accept EBT, any Starbucks in a Target or grocery chain is considered a grocery item. So $7.00 for a mocha cookie crumble frappuccino and pumpkin loaf? Go.
  9. Cold hard cash: Some people are in the business of selling their EBT benefits for cash. Craigslist has been a great conduit for these “creative entrepreneurs.”
  10. K-cups: A lot of people don’t buy coffee in this form because it’s too expensive, but it’s not off limits in the world of welfare.
  11. Cupcakes/Gourmet cakes: It’s considered food, no matter the price. Hello, non-essential $45 cake. Coming Soon? Pot: Colorado became the first state to legalize the use of recreational marijuana, and they also might become the first state to have tax payer funded pot smoking. A Colorado Pot Shop called Rite Greens has already taken the steps to officially accept EBT.

The government currently spends over $110 billion a year on food assistance programs, and they’re continually attempting to get more people on board the government program.

"K-cups"!?

No way should EDT fund coffee from this source.  I could well afford a Keurig machine and K-cups, but I have made a conscious decision not to acquire and use this frightfully expensive method of coffee-making.  I make it one cup at a time using cone-style filters (generic from Publix rather than the much more expensive Melitta brand).  Takes a little longer and a bit more effort, but produces a quite acceptable cup of fresh-brewed coffee.  I sometimes add a few squirts of hazelnut flavoring from a $1.00 bottle bought at Hometown Market (Seven Points store).

Starbucks and Keurig both jack up the price of coffee beyond reasonable limits, but there seem to be plenty of folks who are willing to pay through the nose for their caffeine and that is their choice, but when one is on public subsistence, it is decidedly unnecessary to soak the taxpayer for high-end coffee such as is brewed with K-cups. .

What is this world coming to? Lobster, I looked at a pack of two lobsters the other day and they were 53.00 dollars. I also was beside a lady that was buying all steaks, guess what she was paying with?

I cannot afford most of this stuff and people with a EDT card can get it. Must be nice. They are too easy on this and it should be changed.

But you still have to shell out for the Keurig machine, and I don't find the coffee made by that method to be any better than the one-cup method I use. My method is very portable also, which Keurig is not.

It would certainly produce some severe back strain!

Good advice, Contendah.
