mad person,  you would be squealing if blacks were paid the reparations they surely deserve.

I thought reparations have been distributed for 50 years now. Government programs for free stuff for nothing in return, given jobs even though less qualified, allowed to have thing and event that whites aren't allowed to have. Where is, White Entertainment Television, White Miss America, White History Month, There has to be equality in Sport coaches but not in the players. Stop the insanity!!

Dr pepper, society will never pay back for the horrible damage to black families and their family members individually. It would be futile for one to try and list the acts of racism that have done damage to this race of people. No I do not have any black persons in my immediate or extended family that could bias my feelings on racism but I have seen the hurt caused by ignorance over many years in the eyes of our black brothers and sisters. The blacks and liberal others are going to win this battle against racism.  You can just sit back and watch it surely happen.

This is why I support school vouchers so poor black kids can have the opportunity to get out of their underperforming schools. I am also against the war on drugs as it imprisons a disproportionate amount of young black males for victimless crimes.

PLEASE!

You inbred twit....do NOT drink any more of the  "Blood of Christ"  Grape Juice sips....passed around...at your "House of Worship".

Obviously...it is "tainted"....OUT OF DATE

THUS! Your ignorant laced postings ...here.

Liberals in the North have the most responsibility for racism. In Boston riots occurred because of forced busing. Reading the news it seems New York has the greatest problem of acts of racism by authorities. Don't forget the Southern politicians helped Lyndon Johnson pass laws of equality which the Northern Liberals were against. And if you blame me for being a racist one more time I will walk back to Alabama and smack you around like you deserve. I have never held racist thoughts or performed racist acts against any race. My family has never owned slaves or indentured humans. I do not think I should be held responsible for the acts of some people who have acted in a racist manner. So narrow your tirade and name names and not just white folks in general.

"in a nutshell"....

because money is diverted from social security, by politicians, and used for other projects. government assistance programs are paid by the government.

+++++

That is correct, and it is a simple answer that should satisfy Bulldog63's question.  Welfare funds are in the federal budget and are used for the purpose for which they are appropriated.  Social Security money, which never got in Al Gore's "lock box" is a bunch of IOU's written by the Congress so that they can fund other activities with the Social Security receipts.

Also remember this borrowed money was the budget surplus of the late '90s'.

For years, the surplus in social security went to the general fund, with special treasury instruments (IOUs).  Per the FY 13 report by the SS trustees, there is sufficient income (employer/employee deductions) to pay all benefits until 2020.  Then, the treasury instruments must be cashed in.  This will cause either reductions in spending, tax increases, or a combination, thereof.  After 2030, SS payments to annuitants must be reduced by 25 percent as SS may only be paid by the deductions and not drawn from the general fund.

That is something that  some persons eligible for Social Security benefits in the future might need to take into account in deciding when to apply. Depending on (1) the future year in which one decides to claim benefits and (2) future life expectancy, beginning at 65  could yield a greater lifetime benefit total than would waiting until age 70 claim to claim "maximum benefits."   Example: Retiring at 65 in 2015 could yield a greater lifetime benefit total than would waiting until age 70 at 2020.  I have not done the math, but it just seems to me that some careful planning would be indicated in this situation, especially for people with serious chronic health issues that threaten to shorten life expectancy.. Just thinkin'...What's your take?

Generally, every year one delays accepting ss adds about 2 percent to their annuity.  Had our actuary run the numbers for me before I retired.  Considering life span and taxes on SS, I'll delay until at least 68.5 years.
