A House investigative panel on Thursday announced multiple ethics charges against Rep. Charles Rangel.

The announcement means the case will go on trial before a separate ethics committee, which will decide whether the alleged violations are backed up by the evidence.

Rangel, a New York Democrat, said he looks forward to the trial. He said Thursday that he's been asking for the opportunity to explain himself to his constituents for two years.

Rangel was chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee until he stepped down in March following criticism from the ethics committee regarding a separate case.

The announcement Thursday did not specify which alleged violations would be considered during the trial. The panel has focused on several issues, including Rangel's use of four rent-controlled apartments in New York City and his use of official stationery to raise money for a center bearing his name at City College of New York.

i don't even see why things like this are still reported as news.

" local investigative reporters have discovered that a politician is corrupt."

no kidding. he's a politican.

what's next, a NBC dateline special on the discovery that water is wet and that jabbing an ice pick into your knee causes discomfort?

please. this isn't news. it's so NOT nes that it's not even interesting any more.

when you come across and artical about an elected offical who kepts all his promises and was honest and hardworking and never lied to anyway.... now THAT would be news.

unfortunatly, it's also fiction.
You gotta love it when the man who is in charge of making tax policy is cheating on his taxes, at the same time as sending fellow Americans to prison and to the poor house for a tax code so complicated that no one can understand it.
He, along with about a dozen other Democrat and Republican legislators need to be tarred, feathered, and sent home with no retirement funds.
To Gracies Old Man...lol

Seems the stories get longer, swamp gets bigger, and the trip "to infinity and beyond"...is only for the crooks politicians.

Dictionary.com - deff #2 a politician is "a seeker or holder of public office, who is more concerned about winning favor or retaining power than about maintaining principles." Think we could leave off the "winning favor" for a more accurate deffinition lately.

Yep, I'm sure being black is what got him. Its got nothing to do with him being a scum bag thieving criminal.

Hopefully you know I'm being sarcastic.

You mean you don't think ole Charley is a textbook case of "( insert any named activity here;i.e., driving, walking, standing, etc. ) while black"? Wink
