Looks like the Republicans control both houses of Congress.  In other countries Reid, Pelosi and Wasserman-Schultz would lose their leadership roles, even as minority leaders.  However, I sincerely hope they keep leadership positions - they contributed so much to the current outcome.

TRUTH -- THE NEW HATE SPEECH!

the republicans have 24 months to: appease the extreme rt., repeal obamacare, make the economy better, show they're willing to help americans... this could be a good thing for the democrats... depending on how bad it goes for the republicans... the first thing to watch out for... when ted cruz throws mitch the turtle and the rest of the republicans under the bus to farther his presidential hopes... be watching for it.. it's gonna happen pretty quick, as soon as mitch takes over the senate.

It would thrill me to see Reid, Pelosi and Wasserman-Schultz banished to their new office locations--in the basement of their office buildings.

Now McConnell must consider the order of the pending 350 bills that Dingy Harry refused to schedule for a vote in the Senate.

A good start would be to get the $ trillion out of the U.S. in foreign corporate profits brought to the U.S. with tax law revisions.

The pressure's really going to be on Sheffield born McConnell's back.

Besides the congressional wins -- largest Republican majority since WWII -- the gain in Republican governorships is remarkable.  Florida, Wisconsin and Michigan kept their Republican governors. Illinois,Colorado, Kansas and other states gained Republican governors. Be interesting to see results in the state houses.  The Republicans need to win at the state and county level, as well as, the federal level.

First, just ordering "reverse engines or hard port astern" when the ship of state is approaching a reef is a good idea.  Voters didn't like the way the government was headed and said so.

As to the $3 trillion of overseas profits sitting offsh*ore, Obama has stated he desires to cut the top corporate rate from 35 to 29 percent. Republicans desire 25 percent. A compromise should be possible.  Especially, if tax credits for such revenue if spent on real property and purchasing US equipment and perhaps increases in hiring US workers.

Approving the Keystone XL pipeline is another area.  Dems will argue temporary jobs, in the same breath arguing for infrastructure spending.  The pipeline will be the largest infrastructure construction in decades.  Besides, all infrastructure construction jobs are temporary -- so what.  Only if Obama is completely in the pocket of the watermelon greens should he veto the bill

While I approve of the outcome of the election, I still won't go into happy dance mode. Remember that the repubs don't have a 2/3'rds majority to override vetoes in both houses of Congress. I also saw that a marijuana legalization initiative for the District of Columbia passed. The fed's might as well allow it, there are no brain cells there that can be affected.

I will allow for a small celebration come January.  However, it must be followed up by serious work, negotiations, if possible, and exposure of those dragging down legislation, if not.

Te true winner last night was whoever held the cash bar franchise at the DNC and RNC offices in DC.  Dems were drowning their sorrows in cheap booze with a high markup.  Republicans were rejoicing on top shelf booze with an even higher markup.  Plus, waiters at the RNC were probably tipped well.

It is funny how the rats are running from the sinking ship. There has been an across the board vengeance laid to the back ends of those who are too far to the left. Unfortunately, the reverse is likely to be true in the next election cycle.

Even the fruit cake Fluke (remember the one who wanted the FREE birth control) lost her election bid in California. When a dingbat can't win on the Left Coast, things are certainly in an uproar.

The GOP even won the gubernatorial races in some people's republics. I don't envy the winner of the race for the Argentina of the north, Illinois, though.

I don't think Obamadon'care can be repealed outright after it has been pseudo implemented, but it can be given a death by a thousand cuts. Corporate tax reform could greatly help the middle class when coupled with some ACA business mandate reform; there is much desire to send capital from overseas into the U.S. that could reinvigorate manufacturing. I think even the Japanese retirement system is planning on buying U.S. equities.

did anyone else see mitch's speech about 'we've got to come to compromises and work together'? another rt. wingnut hypocrite, in action... exactly what part of 'compromise' has been achieved in the past 6 years? when did the republicans ever try to 'compromise' with anyone, in the last six years?

next, i can't wait for the republicans to 'address those 350+ jobs bills' they claim are on reid's desk.. this is gonna get hilarious.. their 'jobs bills' are basically EPA and environmental saving programs are cut to the bone... profits over air and water.. get ready for it.

The 380 bills, passed  by  the House,  languishing in the Senate, are dead as of 31 December.  They must be passed again.

Two interesting messages sent bu voters.

Every gun control effort and candidate went down in flames.  Will the left learn from this -- of course, not.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-G...In-Midterm-Elections

All ten new Republican senators ran on a repeal  Obamacare.

"Every new GOP senator who won in last night’s election campaigned on repealing Obamacare.

Senators Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), David Perdue (R-Ga.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), and Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) all ran on a platform of repealing Obamacare."

Unfortunately, there are not enough  senators (67) to override a presidential veto.  Nor, despite some radio jocks and bloggers, may the thing be defunded.  Much of the funding comes from taxes and fees  that go directly to pay certain bills, bypassing the appropriation bills -- medicare and social security do much the same.

i would compare Illinois to Venezuela, rather than Argentina.  Caracas, once noted for its beauty, is now a violent deadly place comparable to Chicago.

Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada on Dec 22, 1970. His father was from Cuba and became a naturalized citizen in 2005. His mother was Irish-Italian descent and was born in America.

If you would, note that I showed him enough respect to spell his name correctly instead of delibertly (I think) misspelling it.

That little bit of info was from wikipedia.

I think you know what I mean, well, then again maybe you don't. I was referring to that 'mitch the turtle' thing. Respect? Yeah, I'm sure that's what it is.

No shots from me jt. I am optimistic, but at the time a realist, and am afraid there will be backlash for all the junk that has happened in the past 6 years. I do not want to see the legislature waste their time trying to remand Obamacare, they just need to fix some of the issues with it. They do not need to try a ridulous impeachment effort, which will go no where, cause further division and costs us millions. They need to concentrate on getting some things done that have been waiting to come to vote because Reid has blocked them, to at least show the American people they will try to accomplish something. Primarily, I hope they are willing to compromise for the sake of the American people.

where were the calls for 'compromise' during the past 6 years? the only people i saw begging for 'compromise' were the democrats.. now that the shoe is on the other foot, 'compromise' has become a major republican talking point... imagine that... we'll see how it goes. the past 6 years, 'compromise' from the republicans has meant 'we'll do it the republican way or we won't do anything'.

If, the Republicans wish to get Obama's attention, start reducing his travel budget -- say 20 percent of his overseas travel budget and 33 percent of his US travel budget.  His fund raising trips cost the taxpayer tens of millions and he only reimburses the government the cost of a first class ticket.

Sure, its a high pressure job and he needs to relax. There are plenty of golf courses in the DC area, not to mention  Camp David.

In short, get his attention, raise awareness to the voters what he's doing as to immigration and the reasons the economy is being held back.
