I mean really, who knew healthcare could be so hard?

----------------------------------------------

Republican leaders of the House of Representatives pulled legislation to overhaul the U.S. healthcare system from consideration on Friday due to a shortage of votes, despite desperate lobbying by the White House and its allies in Congress, dealing a stiff setback to President Donald Trump.

Republican leaders had planned a vote on the measure after Trump cut off negotiations with Republicans who had balked at the plan and issued an ultimatum to vote on Friday, win or lose.

It was unclear whether the bill might be rescheduled, although Trump told the Washington Post, "We just pulled it."

Amid a chaotic scramble for votes, House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, who has championed the bill, met with Trump at the White House before the bill was pulled from the House floor after hours of debate.

Without the bill's passage in Congress, Democratic former President Barack Obama's signature domestic policy achievement, the 2010 Affordable Care Act - known as Obamacare - would remain in place despite seven years of Republicans promises to dismantle it.

Repealing and replacing Obamacare was a top campaign promise by Trump in the 2016 presidential election, as well as by most Republican candidates, "from dog-catcher on up," as White House spokesman Sean Spicer put it during a briefing on Friday.

if you had a test coming.. and you had 8 years to prepare for this test.. and you failed miserably... you have no one to blame but yourself. period. how many millions of dollars were wasted on 'repeal the ACA' votes? now that republicans control both house and senate, they can't even formulate a plan that republicans will back.  and yet, OBAMA!

For 7 years, the imbeciles on the right have chided obamacare, even though they (with the help of Lieberman) crippled it, and have told their ignorant voting base... just get us in there and we will fix all your problems with healthcare.

That being said, they introduced this turd of a bill that priced elderly out of the insurance market, gave carte blanche to insurers to deny coverage for things like maternity, prescriptions, mental health and substance abuse, and gave a large tax break to wealthy investors.   Luckily we have enough sane people on the right side of the aisle to shoot this thing down.

NOW, after all of that pomp & circumstance about letting them get in there and just fix it... they have now... wait for it.. per Paul Ryan ... ."MOVED ON FROM HEALTHCARE!!"   LOL.   What a bunch of idiots and idiots who voted for them.

For seven years demobumercare failed every year and it's on it's last
communist legs now and can't last another eighteen months.
Talk about idiots, morons and fools, now one person read it when
voted for it. What the Republicans didn't vote for was still better than
anything the "born this was ways" could have come up with in fifty yrs.
Still plenty of time.

What do you not understand monkey boy about the mess your obummer boy, and I emphasize boy, has gotten the USofA in with his FAILED obummer care. The present administration not only has to come up with a plan that will work, but are faced with getting out of the mess they were left with. Sort of like working on a vehicle that needs fixed after some idiot has already worked on it and did not know what he was doing. If the dummercrats are so smart, how come THEIR plan has failed miserably. That being said, now who's stupid, stupid!

Actually letting the issue go will be best for everyone. Dems and liberal independants created it when they had a three fifths supermajority in the Senate before Scott Brown was elected to fill Ted Kennedy's seat, something that the Republicans haven't had since Reconstruction. To fix the mess created by one party rule will take both parties working in good faith and that will only happen in an emergency setting.

I believe next year the "Cadillac Tax" kicks in on health plans and the Risk Corridors (Insurance company slush funds) are empty, so union working folks and insurance companies won't be contributing money to politicians in 2018 who don't get busy. If insurers lose more money this year and even more companies pull out of the exchanges, Ol'bamadidn'tcare repeals itself. You can't buy insurance without insurers in the market.

Like Crash and MUBM previously stated, the republicans had seven years to come up with a better plan.  They failed.  What does that say about them?  Are they geniuses? Masterminds?

You might be the only 7 year planner when they never considered
beating hilda before she surfaced as such a perfect disaster as
your baraak and his democare to boot.
At least the America plan was read before hand, unlike the failed
socialist version. Remember the Pelosi brain fart about pass it and
then read it.

Of the people I have looked at and talked to that had Obama care, all were happy with it. I have read about people who aren't happy with it. What's the real reason insurance companies are pulling out?

Absolute BS. Pure and simple marlarky. You have done no such thing as talked to people that were ALL happy with this unaffordable mess!

It's difficult to look at what's happened with the Republicans and not look at it as a loss for Trump.  I don't think, though, that Trump will let it get him down though but that he will pivot over to Tax Cuts or some other promise with a return back to healthcare legislation.   What is really embarrassing for the Republicans, or I would think so, is that when Obama was President they passed many bills for repeal and yet none of those is seeing the light of day with Trump as President.  That being the case it seems it could be argued that the Republicans only passed the bills because they knew Obama would never sign them.  It's a cop out.   That said Obamacare deserves to die and never should have seen the light of day because it is, at it's core, unconstitutional and I, personally, don't care if Chief Justice Roberts invented a way for it to be declared as Constitutional.   AS I see it he deserves part responsibility for this mess because he declared it constitutional because he declared it to be a tax, something that even the Democrats who passed it and came up with it claimed it wasn't.

The free market should be the avenue for Healthcare and Insurance and not the government deciding for everyone and forcing people to obtain any product.

As far as Trump pivoting on to other parts of his agenda I do feel that if he is not successful with the promised tax cuts, particularly for Business then he risk the stock market tanking as well as the promises from businesses looking forward to a tax rate cut being pulled and a downward spiral from there.  But I don't think that will be the case or I sure hope it won't be.
