Rhoda Ps -- New Restaurant In Sheffield

Rhoda P's was the last tenant in the restaurant at Cypress Lakes Golf and Tennis. They make really good food! Hated to see them forced out at the golf course, hope they do well in their new location. Some of the best fried chicken in the area!

We need more meat and 3's.   Those that are really good (Garden Gate and Cracker Barrel) are the hottest restaurants in the area.

And Sheffield needs all the businesses they can get.

I like the meat and threes sometimes, but a bit much for me everyday.  Miami Ice is open is Sheffield,now.  On 2nd street, a window sign states a new place serving ice cream and bakery items is coming.  To the right of Rhoda Ps, work is ongoing in the old Tri-City Daily offices.

Why were they forced out?

I believe they could not make enough to justify keeping it open.  Same can be said for the golf course, itself.  Hopefully they will do better now. Remember the three rules for success in business. -- location, location, location!

FYI, I see a bakery and ice cream shop is coming soon on 2nd st.

My daughter and I ate lunch at Rhoda P"s Friday. The food was superb.  We walked in, no one to greet us, did not know if you seat yourself or must wait to be seated, did not know that it was food bar only, did not know which way to go or what to do next. A patron at a near-by table directed us down the hall-way, turn right, gather your plate and proceed down the food bar. One of the staff did offer to uncover the food to make it more convenient for us to serve our plates. We then proceeded to a table where a staff member took our drink order and brought our napkin and eating utensils. When we finished eating, we asked for our ticket and were directed to the register to check out. I asked if she would know what we had ordered. At that point she explained that everyone eating in had the food bar as their only option. If you order take out, you have a choice of meat and two, meat and three or veggie plate. The next time we go, and we will go again, we will be more comfortable. A new business should have someone to greet and get each patron comfortably oriented to their protocol.

The Cypress Lakes property was a gift to the City of Muscle Shoals.  While moaning about the cost of operating it, they should be taking into account the large capital value of that property and the absence of any obligation to amortize that investment.

Meanwhile, golf courses all around the country are having financial problems.  The "boom" in golf overshot itself and the investments in many golf courses are not being offset by use fees. Also, a lot of the folks who took up golf in recent times have discovered how hard a game it is to do well at, have quit in frustration, and ain't coming back..

Golf was invented by the Scots to entertain the prince royal who was a supreme idiot. Little did the otherwise canny Scots realize they had unleashed upon the world a game that would turn otherwise reasonable men into royal idiots.

Ate with a group today -- everyone enjoyed it.  The lasagna was particularly good -- Garfield good.  Place was filled with all age groups and ethnic groups.  A winner.
