A Jerry Damson Honda commercial pops up on my screen in about one second when I sign into the Rick Hall Interview.

Unfortunately, the documentaries about Rick Hall just crank, and crank, and crank.

If the Times Daily's going post a video, they should use a video program that actually works.

Thank you for your note about the Rick Hall interviews.

The commercials are 15 seconds long and they load very quickly due to the extremely short length.
The interviews are a little over 4 mins long each and will take a little longer to load over a slower connection. They take about six seconds to load on my computer over our wireless network at The Daily which I agree is about five seconds too long.

A solution to this is to use Adobe Flash. We have done this in the past and it dramatically speeds up load times. However, more than 20% of of our customers view our site on Apple iPads and iPhones which means that would not be able to see it. Another solution is to feed the videos through a company like VIMEO or YouTube as they have the technology to serve video based on each reader's platform.  But that means we cannot run a commercial or keep the video series exclusive which helps defray the costs of shooting, editing, serving and hosting the video.

In the future we will cut the videos up into smaller segments to make sure they can load faster over slower connections.

Thanks for your readership.
